Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Happy Hump Day

A great day to celebrate National Chocolat Custard Day!

Nice turnout at Council meeting last night. I suspect it was mostly due to talk about the main dock up front. At least two slip leasee's were there and I got texts from and about others later that night. To call that mess a mess is being conservative. They left it with the Waterfront committee to round up all 13 plus or minus slip owners and get a dialog started.
Here' what I took away.
Councilwoman Hoerner pointed out, PAY ATTENTION ALL YOU FACEBOOK SJW's, that discussing City business via social media can be a violation of the law ( see Open Meetings Act). Feel free to pass this tidbit on to some of the dumbasses we all know and love.
The WCID and CCISD Bond can be voted on this weekend at the Fire Station.
The annual Hurricane meeting will be on June 15. If you're new here and especially if you are new to the Gulf Coast you really need to go. Lots of good info.
The EDC will have an open house at the Club House Saturday the 13th. Yes it's the same weekend as Mothers Day BUT NOT ON MOTHERS DAY. No excuses. They will be there to answer any question you have about the Town Center project. That includes Okies Yard house since it is the first installation at the Town Center. If you are not familiar with all the hooha on Facebook lately This was done to provide the most access to the most people. Like it, Don't like it. IDGAF. It's on you to educate yourself.
No trees on the Jarboe Islands. And GalCo is asking for wish lists from all the cities which they will use for an upcoming County Bond election. Suggestions? See George or one of your elected Officials.
It was Mayor Johnsons' last full meeting. After 12 years behind the table he's handing his gavel to Mike McNamara. Thanks for all you did Vern.

Things I learned from the Islander. Our Club House was built in 1927. The Club used to have Shrimp Boils. May 1987 is all about our fire dept. Do you remember when the fire station was on Clear Lake Road? Buzz helped plant all the Palm Trees around the waterfront. Do you know where the Rothwell Memorial is? They talked abut the Christmas Eve fire that took out Vinces' at Watergate. They had awesome grilled cheese sammiges. Hot off the flattop! The Island Wide Garage Sale was called Grandmas' Attic and was held over a weekend. And the best piece in 1987 was about Mike Zutecks' Amazing Sailing Machine. I remember it well. Awesome fits well here. Wish I had a picture to share.
Tomorrow the Civic Club meeting is at the pool. With Ice Cream. See you there.

So let me guess - Craig did not even bother to show up at the Council Meeting, correct?

Lazy hate monger. If he is that concerned about getting information can't he even make a meeting? What a joke. I guess he is too busy running his grass cutting business illegally from his house.
