Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Camping at last!

Finally made it out of the driveway. Next stop is Lost Maples State Nature Area. Ms. Lindelow ranted and raved so we are excited. It's a tad long for the maiden voyage but so be it.

Here's a peak at the inside.

We decided to take the long way and travel Alt 90 out of Houston. The reasoning was we will pass through many small towns so if we do run into a problem hopefully help won't be far.
A few miles east of Eagle Lake we heard a sound. Yep. The downside of Hwy 90 is there is no shoulder and it passes through farm country. Lots of big rig traffic. Lots. THe first place we could pull over was a Shell station. As I went around Big Pearl looking for the source of the sound I came across this.

That's right, there are only two of the six lug nuts left and they are trying to chew their way free. After we jacked it up we coud pull the tire off without removing the last two nuts. Glad we were not on I-10.
Spent the next 6 hours looking for parts for a 1964 trailer. You can imagine the results. Here's where I give a HUGE shout out to Rhonda and David at the NAPA store. While they could not help directly they never stopped trying. They called all the local spots thet we never would have found until we ended up in Nada Texas.
Enter Ricky.

Not only does Ricky have a dog that chases a bowling ball around he is the man at the Nada Garage. He didn't have the parts we were looking for either but  he didn't let that stop him. He simply welded the new lugs to the back of the hub. Voila!
To all who helped us get our Spring Break back on track, Thank You!
On to Lost Maples.

And Happy National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day!
