Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Not only is it New Years Eve

It’s also Make up your mind day. New Years Eve 2014. Ready or not tomorrow is 2015. Took a peek at last years 1/1 post and it had these little jewels, The Texans have a new coach, The Sandbar should be open this year and so should Chill. Did I mention I talked to Frank a couple of weeks ago? He has a new guy stepping up to get Chill back on track. One out of three eh? Well Chill is in the hands of the Micro Brew outfit and I hope that’s coming along. Anyone heard any news on that? I did get a chance to talk to Roxanne earlier this summer but when I asked her what the latest was all I got was a “UGH!”
Speaking of numbers, this blog is coming up on its 4th anniversary. Can you believe it ? 1,435 days ago was the first post. For the numerically challenged it was January 26, 2011. And here we are 802 posts later. 6,200 comments have been posted and most of them are still up. One or two trolls have been deleted just because I can. Those numbers make up the 380,397 pageviews. Whodda thunk it.
I hope everyone made their kids go out and play in the snow that was provided by the City on Monday. Aside from the annual city event and the odd snow day at Stewart it was ten years ago when we had our White Christmas. Statistically it will be 182 years before we have another. I won’t wait up. Resolutions anyone? I’m gonna pass this year so don’t blow me any crap if you see me out walking around the island.
Lot’s of changes going on all around us. Just look at all the new homes going up. With the exception of the idento-boxes next to me on Pine they are pretty cool. We really should have an ordinance just for the money bags that don’t live here but buy the dirt to build spec houses. Nothing against capitalism mind you just don’t make your cheap shit that you will never see because you don’t live here identical sitting RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. What a D bag. That’s why we moved here wasn’t it? Because it was different? If you want every 4th house to look the same move to League City right? And here I have identical twin spec homes two doors down. Bad Karma.
Who’s little sailboat sank on South Shore down at Narcissus? Cute little boat stuck in mud. Oh well.
Happy New Year Clear Lake Shores

National Forefather's Day

Forefathers’ Day is a holiday celebrated in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on December 22. It is a commemoration of the landing of the Pilgrim Fathers in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on December 21, 1620. It was introduced in Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1769. Take that.

Well if you missed the Civic Club’s Christmas Party you missed one heck of a good time. The foos was great and the crowd was jusr awesome. Shanna and Pricilla have outdone themselves. Next time you see either one of them make sure you thank them for effort they put into this final event of the year. Job well done Ladies.

And speaking of the Christmas Party, for all those enquiring minds Bryan Hoerner won First Place in the wacky hat contest with his home made Sno-Globe hat. Lisa Foley won Second Place and Rick and Sam took home best couple.

The Carroling Carters worked their magic around the Island last night. I am so thankful they stopped at the Corner of Forest and Pine. We weren’t able to join in this year MJ and I are both trying to get over the Crud. We’ll be there next year tho. I counted 45 buggies as they drove off to spread Christmas Joy around the neighborhood. Caldwell’s, you rock! Merry Christmas everyone.

7 Shopping Days till...

From the Prez...
Hello Club Members,

Don't forget about our last Civic Club party of the year!  This Friday is our annual Christmas party.  Priscilla Duffy & Shanna McGinty , AKA the Dynamic Duo, has organized a great time for us - thank you Duo!  We will have food, a DJ and a Christmas hat contest.  All details are on-line in the Islander!
Also, Diane Johnson is collecting stuffed animals to give to the elderly on Christmas Eve.  We're going to have a box at the party to collect any that you can donate for this wonderful cause.

See you Friday!  If you can't make it, then Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thank you for a wonderful year - looking forward to another great time in 2015.

What a Beautiful Day!

Miss me? It's been a week since the last post but it's been pretty quiet. Tried raking some leaves but that's like loading a wheel barrel full of bullfrogs. Moving on, With all the hoo-ha over the islander going digital a couple of months ago I thought I'd point out the link off to the right side there under Civic Club Page. But that brings up another question. Just a show of yea or nay's, have you read the Islander since it's gone on-line?

Is this going to be the best weather we've ever had for the Christmas Boat Lane Parade?

It's time for the annual Teddy bear round up. Here's a note from neighbor Diane.
My name is Diane Johnson. The last two Christmas seasons I have collected stuffed animals for Harbor View nursing home in League City. We have received 76 animals to date. They have about 160 patients.Last year we had one for almost every resident, so I am shooting for about 84 more. I deliver them on Christmas morning with my daughter and a friend. The residents seem to like this tradition. I live at 226 Narcissus and there will be a black box near our front door. They just need to be new or gently loved stuffed animals. If you can help, please feel free to place donations in the box. Thanks in advance for your help!

Just got this from East Shore,
Free to good home: Stock golf cart tires/wheels with club car hub caps. out by the curb 217 E. Shore

And here's the latest Santa update from neighbor Mark.
Your very own fire department is pleased to announce we will be hosting a very distinguished quest from up north again this year.  That is right Thursday, December 18th we will be escorting Santa around town.

Our information is posted at

The time and route may vary due to road construction.  Also this year to make sure we can get to everyone at a reasonable time for a school night we will be traveling through Clear Lake Shores as usual but only making a single stop at the club house.  We hope to see you there!

Get out there and enjoy this beautiful day!

Prohibition Ends!

in 1933. The 21st Amendment passed. Whew!

The Civic Club is looking for a new Treasurer.  Kimmy had to back out for health reasons. Keep her in your prayers for a speedy recovery.

This from President Debbie
Hello Dear Civic Club Members,
We are calling an emergency Clear Lake Shores Civic Club meeting for tomorrow at the Club House at 9:00 am.
Purpose:  Vote required to replace the Club's Treasurer
Reason:  Unfortunately, Kimmy Johnson, our current Treasurer has resigned due to health issues.  We need an immediate replacement and John Wright has offered to serve until the current term is over and a new Treasurer is elected in April.  If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to vote on this, please attend tomorrow's meeting.

On behalf of the Civic Club Officers and Members, I would like to thank Kimmy for all the hard work she has done for the Club as our Treasurer, as well as prior positions she has held in the past.  We wish her a speedy recovery and our thoughts and prayers are with her at this time.

Thank you all for your continued support of the Civic Club.  We value each and every one of you very much.  Without you, there would be no Civic Club.

This from neighbor Mike Pons.
I am in need of a washing machine and dining room table.
