Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Who's ready for a Cold Front?

GOING, GOING, ALMOST GONE  . . . the Kid's Halloween costume  party scheduled 10-31 from 4 - 6 PM can't happen without a chair person.
Here's what we have ready - a box full of Halloween "stuff" to mine for decorations and prizes.  A volunteer to help the chair person. Some money to fund the party.  Here's what you will need to do: plan decorations, games, prizes, and snacks for about 20 - 30 kids, from little tiny ones on up to 10 or so.  Reply to my e-mail to volunteer.
Multiple replies will mean LOTS of help and a great time for the kids.
Photographer also wanted for this event.

The Kid's fishing derby is tomorrow (Sat) morning at Deep Hole Park.
THANKS to Kimmy Johnson  for running this for the last 10 years.  Kids, be at Deep Hole at 9:00  There will be prizes for most fish and biggest fish in 3 age group catagories, prizes and lunch. All fishing must be done in Clear Lake Shores.  Parents, how about snapping a picture with your cell phone and sending it to me?

ISLANDER proof readers have stepped forward.  We will meet next Thursday evening for a brief training session and to work out logistics.  THANKS to new resident Doris Sanders, Tiffany Johnson, Wayne Pitman and Teresa Otten for your willingness!  The Editor position is still open.

The BBQ cook-off is alive and well THANKS  to volunteer chair Candace Mann.  Watch for date, times and rules.
Thanks Candace (and Jimmy) for not letting this awesome event die on the vine. See folks, THATS what it takes to make shit happen. Just step up. Now let's find some cookers!!! Who's In?
                           National Night Out News

On Tuesday night we will start at Birch in front of the Pavillion and will serve hotdogs (courtesy of our neighborhood Super Target and their team).  Glen and a few volunteers will be cooking and serving the dogs to everyone along with cold drinks and "goodie bags" provided by Target and our Police Department.

Here is schedule:
6:00 - 6:15  Pavillion @ Birch
6:15 - 6:30  S. Shore @ Oak/Narcissus
6:30 - 6:45  Sun Dial Park
6:45 - 7:00  N. Shore @ Clear Lake Road
7:00 - 7:15  Deep Hole Park
Goal:  Finish event before it gets dark.

We need some volunteers with larger capacity golf carts that can chauffeur the Target employees around.  So far we have one golf cart but need several more.
