Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Civic Club Ice Cream Social and pool membership renewal Thursday at the Pool!

From Neighbor Jim:
Please post.  This was also missed in the CLS phone messaging system voicemail today.
We can early vote for the CCISD bond issue at STEWART on May 7, in the morning.  So its not necessary to drive all over north county for a polling place.
See the attached.  Stewart is dead last on the list.
Would be nice if we could just vote in one place for all issues.  This has to be costly.

Happy Birthday to

The Redheaded Stranger, Willie Nelson. Yes, I’ve heard about the discrepancy with the State of Texas. The State says his birthday is tomorrow. Willie says today. It’s his birthday.

Lots of stuff coming right up so go get a pencil.
Today starts early voting and election day is only 12 days away. Don’t forget to read up on the two bond elections. One for CCISD and the other for WCID 12. The EDC is trying to line up a speaker from each organization to address City Concil at next weeks meeting. More as I get it.

Civic Club meeting is Thursday. Not in the Club House this time. Remember we’re at the pool and bringing Ice Cream! You bring your checkbook and you might want to bring a chair.

Saturday is Cinco-De-Meow at the Club House. It’s a fund raiser for second chance pets and it’s going to be a hoot. Watch here for the flyer.

Did you get this email? If not you’re not signed up with the office.
This is a reminder to all residents of Clear Lake Shores.
Today, early voting begins for City officials of Clear Lake Shores, Clear Creek Independent School District School Board and Bond Issues and the Water Control Improvement District Bond Issue.
We urge every registered voter to study the candidates and the bond issues and do your civic duty by voting in each of these elections.

America invented ?

April 25, 1507, "America" was first used as the name of a continent on a map. German cartographer Martin Waldseemueller used the name in honor of Italian navigator Amerigo Vespucci. Do with that what you will.

If you are going to be out and about in Kemah this weekend here's a heads up just for you from neighbor Mark:

Temporary road closures both Saturday and Sunday.

It was pointed out by a neighbor that her favorite ice cream topping came in a glass bottle. Well at next weeks Civic Club meeting no bottles allowed. We'll be at the pool so pour enough to drown that homemade vanilla in a different container please. Insert wink.

 From neighbor Steve:

Happy Birhday to

Mark the Massey! And many more my friend!

Sounds some of our neighbors aren’t happy with the Fuller turn out. Well put this spin on it. The property got cleaned up. That’s what the objective was in the first place right? A little lipstick on the pig? Jackpot. I went by and it does look better. Let’s face it, fine’s were not going to get paid. You know, I know it so what’s the point. A drawn out legal battle would only cost us more money that we still wouldn’t collect so what’s the point? As long as his neighbors are happy I’m good. Face it, there’s a lot or two around this place that could stand more than just a mowing and with that said there’s a reason we don’t have a HOA.

I’m going to look a little closer in to the CCISD Bond issue. I’ll let you know what I find.

There's a reason you don't see the Vendors list for the Farmer's Market posted here anymore. It's not a good reason but there's a reason just the same. The Market is still there and a lot of hard work by a lot of good folks goes in to bringing you great fresh produce every week. Stop by, see what's new.

Club meeting next Thursday with a twist. We are working with the Pool Committee and their membership drive. We’ll bring many many gallons of Blue Bell Ice Cream up to the pool. We’ll bring the bowls and spoons too. You bring the toppings and your checkbook.

The Community Garden is taking shape. Don’t wait too long to get involved or you’ll miss the Spring Planting season all together. Interested? Get hold of Ms. Pege Wright for more info.

Wheels and Keels is coming up. One of our neighbors, Paul Merryman, helped get the event started back in 1995. This year there will be abt 200 cars and 100 boats. Awesome work Paul!

Sounds like fun: 3rd Annual Toy Train Show & Swap Meet. Bay Area Community Center, 5002 NASA Pkwy, Seabrook. SaturdayMay 4, 2013 10 AM -3 PM Discount tickets here

Texas Music Festival- League City-May 3rd-5th. There will be a fun run (still an oxymororn) and BBQ Cook-Off

So if Aldi is going to put a new store in Kemah, where is it going and is this something our EDC should be on like a chicken on a Cheetoh? Ronnie let’s make ‘em a deal!

As long as there's a few farmers out there, we'll keep fighting for them.
