OK, here’s a thought. Everybody CALM down. That’s better. There are 6 more council meetings. And we’ve got about 102 days of this nonsense. My thoughts are contacting the AG office is a waste of energy. It sounds good and maybe in a perfect world, but the short version is it’s a governmental office and the odds of a government office doing squat in 100 days is slim. The Galveston County DA’s office has already been contacted. They are paying attention but again unlikely to do anything in the short time we have left. You want to do something? Talk to your neighbors. Engage them. Ask them if they even want to know what’s going on. If they do great, if not move on. Ask them if they are registered to vote. If not, ask if you can help. You have neighbors out there who are not registered because they think it puts them in the jury pool. While I personally don’t care for that attitude it is their life. They do need to know though that the county uses drivers license’ for jury selection not voter registration. It’s our neighbors who don’t have the opportunity to attend the City Council meetings or read this blog that are targeted. If you did neither but talked to Councilman Perkins about the goings on around here you would probably think I had two heads and a 666 tattoo. That is who they will target. I guarantee it. I’ve seen it happen. And to be honest it is quite fascinating to watch. I had Councilman Fuller stand in my driveway and tell me, my wife and two neighbors how the Town Center was going to level the houses on Tindel. If I didn’t know better I would have been with him demanding the end of the Town Center too. Understand there are people on this Island who have no qualms about telling lies to their neighbors to get their way. Is that what politics is all about? I thought you were supposed to serve your fellow man for the betterment of the whole. What a dumb-ass I am.
The Credit card BS is just that. It is a mind set and a political tool. Tell a lie long enough and some folks will start to believe it. It’s harassment that’s all. They’re hoping to reach a low BS tolerance and someone will quit. One way to make this BS stop is a simple change in the open records policy. Currently we let anyone make a request for anything. All as it should be. When the office staff finally compiles the requested list we let the requestor pick and choose what they want and that’s what they pay for. That’s Cherry Picking. If a record pertains to your request and the staff makes it available you pay for it. Period.
And what’s all this talk about threats to elected officials? Anon 9:18 I'm calling you out. I went through yesterdays’ comments and failed to find any threat. Unless you count “us” throwing “them” out of office a threat. I’d like to think of it as more of a promise. No threats folks, we don’t need it and If I see it I’ll remove it. Now go outside and enjoy your Saturday. And talk to a neighbor while you’re at it.
