Those strangers at our place are John and Carol, Melinda’s mom and dad. Stop by and say hi.
Only three days to go before the Civic Clubs Thanksgiving Dinner! I sure hope you don’t miss this. It really will be well deserved treat. Just imagine over 300 pounds of roasted turkey and home made dressing and gravy. Now picture me drooling on my keyboard. Strike that last bit. They are still looking for some extra help. And I know it may sound like work but I guarantee you will have a blast. Or your money back.
Erick update: he’s busier that a cat covering crap on a tile floor. But he’s putting the finishing touches on the ell up at Tom and Mindy’s. Pics tomorrow if I can get there before he covers it up.

To All My Island Neighbors and Friends~
I realize that our “Little Slice of Heaven” has had quite a few growing pains during the last few months. For some of us we have stopped and wondered if we aren’t just like anywhere else……politics and arguing….sometimes neighbor to neighbor. This was not a fun or enjoyable time for any of us in our little paradise.
Well, I am writing to give you a glimpse of hope and possibly give you a reality check on how great this Island really is.
Two weeks ago I stepped into the City Hall to sign up for the “vacation watch” that the Clear Lake Police Department provides. What a great free service. All you do is fill out a form identifying when you are leaving and when you will return. For this small effort on your part, an Officer will come by and physically check out your residence on a daily basis….maybe twice a day I’m not sure but I know they keep a log of their visits.
Well I came home from Cabo San Lucas last weekend and of course everything was fine and secure. I sure appreciated knowing that I had some special attention as a resident. But there is more:
Two days after I am back getting settled back in and I get a knock on the door. It is a Clear Lake Shores Police Officer.
The first thing he says is “Welcome Home”………..do you know good that felt? Then he proceeded to say that he was stopping by to make sure everything was okay and in order. He put a smile on my face as big as Texas! I couldn’t have felt more appreciated and taken care of.
Thank you Clear Lake Shores Police Department for helping to make our Island a safe and enjoyable place to live.
Now the next time you think that this place isn’t as special as you once thought it was…..just take a vacation and come back to a smile and a “Welcome Home”!!!
