Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Happy Birthday to..

Van Morrison.

Raffle for a First Responder. Way Cool stuff for the winner(s) and all for a very worth cause.

From neighbor Rick: Hey Allen,
Can you please help me get the word out for a raffle to benefit a long time friend of ours?
His name is James Romine (known the boy since high school) & he is a Sgt for the Harris Co Sheriff's dept.  A couple of months back, he was diagnosed with Superior& nbsp;Canal Dehiscense, an inner ear disorder that requires brain surgery to correct.  As a double whammy, the Drs also found an aneurysm during the pre-op testing.  On Aug 1st, he underwent a procedure using a catheter to have the it coiled & it was discovered that he had a double aneurysm so the coil procedure did not work.  He went in this past Tuesday for brain surgery to fix both problems.  He is doing well & should make a full recovery. It sounds like they may even let him go home tomorrow.

Unfortunately, insurance is only going to cover 80% of the costs, so he is going to be stuck with some pretty hefty bills on a public servant salary.  A raffle has been put together to help offset some of the expenses.  The prize is a Stag AR-15 assault rifle or there is an alternate prize of a $1000 Visa gift card for those that do not want the rifle or cannot pass the required background check.  Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20.  The drawing date is Oct 14, 2011.  If anyone is interested, they can contact me at 832-439-3319 (please leave a voicemail if no answer, I may be flying) or Sam at 832-567-1677.  My email is & Sam's .
Thanks for the help & please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need any more info!
 Talk to you soon!

Installment II “Tribes” Another thing I know – from years of experience changing large companies – is that there just a few keys to the functioning of all business organizations: the need for control and avoidance of accountability are a couple of the more important psychological ones.  Those who gravitate to positions of power almost always have a high need for control.  And, they are usually willing to consume enormous amounts of energy to stay in control.  They are our leaders.  Nothing is different in CLS – we love having those people so the rest of us can party, drink, ride our golf carts, etc.  And, not go to Council meetings. Of course, it is best when those folks in power have the same views you have; the problem surfaces when those folks in control differ in view.  The rub in CLS is that we have seven tribes and decisions must be made that affect all.  All the tribes have their own radical control freaks perfectly willing to make those decisions.  You are probably saying, “So does the nation.”  Well there are differences.  The nation is huge and has a slow bureaucracy.  We can balance the nation by throwing “the bums” out every 2-4 years.  The pendulum can swing back and forth slowly and the nation – as we experience it down in the trenches - will still stay relatively steady over the long haul.  Not so in CLS.  Things can change in weeks – without some of the tribes even aware of the change.

I guess the election is getting close I’m seeing Bill Young for Sheriff posters in the neighborhood. Hopefully we’ll hear more about the investigation real soon. This needs to be over with but I don’t see us getting over this until May. But that’s just me.

A precious little Texas girl, with two missing teeth, walks into Pet Smart and asks the owner, "Excuthe me mithter, do you have any widdle wabbits?"
As his heart melts, he gets down on his knees so that he's on her level and asks,
"Do you want a widdle white wabbit, or a thoft and fuwwy bwack wabbit, or maybe one like that cute widdle bwown wabbit over there?"
She, in turn, blushes, rocks on her heels, crosses her arms,
Leans forward and says;

"I don't think my python weally gives a thit."

The best things we could do at this point include:

*attending CC in mass. It is sad but we need to keep the pressure on. If nothing else they will know we are INVOLVED.

*attend the trial of the century in Galveston. It will be wonderful to see Bernie go down. Perhaps a huge judgement will finally put him in his place.

I believe Richard Sowrey's term is also up for election in May. We should have three spots up for election.

Anon @ 6:30 a.m. - when is the trial?

We can only hope and pray. But, the C.A.V.E. people are a lot smarter than they look and sound, believe me. For the "trial of the century" they will likely band together and figure out a way to line up the same senile and crooked jugde they used when they actaully sued teh City for trying to make progess and somehow finagled an injuction against the initial funding plan for the Town Center through Wells Fargo that Bass creatively pulled together. That was the financing deal of the century amd we would likely already have something to be proud of up front had they not been so stupid. Instead, we have parking lots. I wish to this day that our City Council at the time would have fought them in court, but at least you have to give those leaders some credit for not wanting to waste money doing that and tarnishing the city's image even further in the media. The C.A.V.E. people do a good enough job of both of those on their own and they certainly dont need any additional help in tearing this great town apart.

Judge John Grady will be hearing the latest lawsuit invoving Bernie McIntyre. Is this the same judge?

Word on the street is much of the evidence (from the last year)was captured on security cameras so it is a slam dunk win for the neighbors. Sure hope the media (including Aulds)is in attendance.

Where did the Travis's go? Maybe some of the Travis's are helping one of the Travis's prepare for trial.

Travis is still posting on yesterday's blog. That is where the action is.
