Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Happy Birthday to Woodstock

The music and art fair opened today at Max Yasgurs’ farm in New York in 1969.

A Benefit BBQ and possible Ice Cream Social is shaping up nicely. Watch this spot for more info as it takes shape.

This from your local Farmer Market
Clear Lake Shores – Enjoy a Last Blast of Summer at the Farmers’
Market at Clear Lake Shores on Saturday, August 20, from 8 am to noon.
The Market will feature the tropical tunes of Cap’n Rick that day and a kids’ activity tent sponsored by AFLAC Independent Agent Jason West.
All Parrot Heads, sun goddesses, “foodies” and hungry shoppers looking for homegrown, homemade, natural and organic foods and products will want to be there. And be sure to bring the kids, or if you’re a Parrot Head, bring the “parakeets.”
Anyone wearing a Hawaiian shirt, flip-flops and board shorts, or a grass skirt and coconut bra can claim a free reusable, environmentally friendly market bag. Others can get a bag in exchange for a $2 donation to support Bay Area Turning Point.
Some market vendors will feature products with a tropical twist like coconut water and coconut cake. Skinny Cal-O-Mixers will be at the market sampling and selling all natural zero calorie drink mixes including Cal-O-Rita, Cal-O-Berry, Cal-O-Colada and Cal-O-Cane dry beverage mixes. Perfect for boaters, RV’ers and Parrot Heads!
The Farmers’ Market at Clear Lake Shores is run by a volunteer steering committee of residents of Clear Lake Shores. With small town charm and high standards for vendors and products, the market is a Texas Certified Farmers’ Market.
Located at 1020 Marina Bay Drive (FM 2094), the Market is ½ mile west of Hwy. 146 under the white canopies. For more information visit,, or contact Market Manager Charlie Hester at

Put it on your calendar. City Council meeting tomorrow night at 7. Don’t miss it! I’ll post the Agenda tomorrow.

....the birds have to use potholders to pull the worms out of
    the ground.
....the trees are whistling for the dogs.
....the best parking place is determined by shade instead of
distance. water comes from both taps. can make sun tea instantly. learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good
     branding iron.
....the temperature drops below 95 F and you feel a little chilly. discover that in July it only takes two fingers to steer
your car. discover that you can get sunburned through your car window. actually burn your hand opening the car door. break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30A.M.
....your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked
out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death"? realize that asphalt has a liquid stage.
....the potatoes cook in the ground, so all you have to do is
pull one out and add butter.
....the cows are giving evaporated milk. are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them
    from laying boiled eggs.
