Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

It's Friday!

About a month ago this was a dead Oak tree. Then Erik worked his magic and voila!

Don't forget the special Council meeting tomorrow at City Hall. See you there. Hopefully this nonsense will come to an end soon.

Looks like we made the front page again

Short and sweet....

Mayor Vern Johnson:
I attended the council meeting Tuesday night and would like to voice several concerns.
The first concern is with regard to Paul's attorney reading the ordinance related to proper procedure for council to follow.  I find it hard to believe council members do not know procedures to follow by now.  I am assuming his point in reading the ordinance was to prevent any legal actions.  If council members violated the ordinance, will they need to hire their own attorney when and if this goes to court?
I, as a tax payer, want to know why this investigation is taking place and why we are about to spend approximately $20,000 of the tax payer monies for what appears to be a witch hunt expedition without merit.  One that is based on an illegal investigation conducted by council members.
I am also very concerned with the attitude and behavior of council woman Tami Perkins especially when dealing with residents that may not share her point of view. Specifically, when I asked her if she had a copy of the ordinance Paul's attorney read she told me,  "Fuck You".  Her behavior was unprofessional to say the least. Jackie Fuller was seated next to her and he laughed at her comment to me. Is there not a code of conduct for council members to follow? Certainly a reprimand is in order.
I feel the residents have a right to know what our liabilities are if this investigation goes forward and ends up in court as Paul's attorney stated.  Will more taxpayer monies have to be spent to defend a few council members that did not follow procedure and may, in turn, be sued for slander/defamation of character?  Where does it end in what appears to be small town politics gone astray?  Will the attorneys be the main ones to profit from all this and the island ending up having to pay additional settlement fees?  Honestly, if our council members need to hire their own attorneys the last matter is of little concern to me. If the city has to pay a huge settlement, it is a whole different matter. Although I would be among many to testify in Paul's defense.
It is clear to see our community is now divided by the actions of city council.  Has it divided more than the residents? Has the actions of one or more council members created a division in our police force also?  This is a serious concern to our safety and security .  Could some current officers, that may have been questioned during the illegal investigation, believe the Chief is going to be fired and therefore are acting based on that assumption? I certainly think they must be wondering what is going on and how is it all going to end.
In summary, we have a right to be informed of council's plans in a timely manner. Our assets  and our security need to be protected. I think it is very ironic that two council members ran and more than likely were elected because they were against the city spending tax dollars on the Town Center project and now a minimum of 20K is being wasted on a investigation let alone the potential of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a settlement.
I respect your time, Vern, and I realize it must be impacted, too, by the recent riff.  I would appreciate a few moments of your time to discuss the concerns presented above.  Please let me know when you are available.

Respectfully submitted,
Suzanne Hubbard

Have a great weekend y'all.........

from neighbor Steve....
A priest dies and is waiting in line at the Pearly Gates. Ahead of him is a guy who's dressed in sunglasses, a loud shirt, leather jacket, and jeans.Saint Peter addresses this cool guy, 'Who are you, so that I may know whether or not to admit you to the Kingdom of Heaven ? 'The guy replies, 'I'm Jack, retired airline pilot from Houston.'
Saint Peter consults his list. He smiles and says to the pilot, 'Take this silken robe an d golden staff and enter the Kingdom.' The pilot goes into Heaven with his robe and staff.
Next, it's the priest's turn. He stands erect and booms out, 'I am Father Bob, pastor of Saint Mary's for the last 43 years.'
Saint Peter consults his list. He says to the priest, 'Take this cotton robe and wooden staff and enter the Kingdom.
'Just a minute,' says the good father. 'That man was a pilot and he gets a silken robe and golden staff and I get only cotton and wood. How can this be?
'Up here - we go by results,' says Saint Peter. 'When you preached - people slept. When he flew, people prayed.'
