Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Day of the Hump

Happy Birthday Minnesota! I don’t know about you but that is the coldest place I’ve ever been. I remember well climbing up in to a refrigerated trailer, that was set to zero degrees, to get warm………pass. That was my inspiration for my tenet " If it's below 32 degrees' it belongs in a cocktail glass with a shot of Scotch".

Busy weekend coming right up.
First and foremost is election day. Saturday. Do your job.

Next The Island Wide Garage Sale is Saturday. Latest count is 60 houses signed up and more are expected. The record is 72 and it might fall. Remember our neighbors in Lazy Bend are in on this sale also. All you Off Islanders and semi pro garage sale experts need to know this is the best deal on the Texas gulf coast! Official Sale hours are 8AM till 2 but the true garage salers will be out there at the crack of dawn looking for the deal of the day. We’ll start selling lunch around 10. This year we added burgers to the menu. Remember the proceeds go to YOUR Civic Club so spread the word!

The party looks like it’s in Sunny San Leon this weekend. Topwater Grill is hosting Tails and Tunes check it out ….

The Elks Lodge across the street is hosting the Boaters Flea Market next weekend, May 21st & 22nd. Given we are the Yachting Capitol of Texas you know there’s gonna be all sorts of stuff. And you know those folks at the lodge love to throw a party. It should be fun!

Probably the final Bird Update. That cute, not so little, corn snake in the photos yesterday has been relocated to some of the most snake friendly acreage around. Erik released it over on Lawrence Road shortly after the photo session.
