Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

The Final Frontier

Lots of Space today. 50 years ago Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space and 30 years ago we started the shuttle program. I hear there’s a celebration across the street at Johnson Space Center. And tomorrow they’ll announce the locations that get the retiring fleet of three orbiters and the Enterprise. 30 years and I’ve been a part of it for almost 25. Holy Mackerel! I can only wonder what will be next…..

See the Space Station April 13
Viewers in the JSC area will be able to see a good pass of the International Space Station:

Wednesday, April 13, 6:29 a.m. (Duration: three minutes)
Path: 10 degrees above NNW to 32 degrees above NE
Maximum elevation: 33 degrees

Lots of stuff coming up. Most pressing is candidates night. That’s where we get to ask questions of the folks who are running for office. This year there are two council seats open and three folks running for them. The Mayor is unopposed. Al is running for his seat and Dennis and Arlene are running for a seat. This could be interesting. Arlene would give the CAVE people a voting majority. Wave bye bye to progress. Come on out to the meeting it could be entertaining. It’s Thursday evening probably around 7:00. Check your islander or the city calendar. There’s a link to the right.
Did you know Iceland has a penis museum? Who knew?
Our Farmer’s Market turns 2 this Saturday. The market manger and his committee are lining up all sorts of stuff, from free totes to huge raffle. There will also be some free goodies at our place. Come on out.
I hear the city’s cracking down on trailers parked on empty lots again. They got Bart and I hear Craig is next. I wonder how long it will take them to get to that trash heap on Aspen?
Did you know that April 11th 1954 was the most boring day recorded since 1900? That’s’ what they say….who am I to argue?
Kemah is having a crawfish festival under the bridge this weekend. YUM! I am so there……
Only four weekends til the Island Wide garage sale.
Remember, the early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese……..

Wish I could make candidates night. I would be interested in hearing the new prospects views on enforcing city codes regarding trash and debris, where they stand on accountabilty for personal taxes and how they would plan to work towards completing the town center that our community supported in the recent election.... or at least putting up a sign for the used car lots that have 'evolved' up there.
