IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Today's history lesson courtesy of the Islander.
Just like today, A lot of controversy about filling in the Flounder Pond.
Roger Day and his airplane on Clear Lake Road made the paper. We got a new Police Chief. His name was Paul Shelley, Hi Paul! drop me a line sometime.
There was a move afoot by the Williams family to name the houses (sound familiar) as they are being built on the Island.  Not too hard since it's 1946 and there just aren't many houses yet. Their original house was on Oak and was named the Scrap Inn. Mostly because it was being built by scrap bits brought in. And you know there was the Seldom Inn on Forest right?  What would you name your house? The first ad for an Island Calendar appears. Is this something worth bringing back? Lois Lane wrote an article. No mention of Jimmy or Clark. Yet.

Dumbest shit I read to day is a toss up.
Chelsea Manning to remain in Army, receive health care benefits after prison release
Manning, a former intelligence analyst in Iraq, was convicted in 2013 of leaking more than 700,000 secret military and State Department documents and battlefield video to WikiLeaks. She served nearly seven years of her 35-year sentence at Fort Leavenworth. She was known as Bradley Manning before transitioning in prison.
Why would the U.S. Army want this dirt bagette to stay?

Or ....
Social-justice warriors are now saying that Mother’s Day is gender-exclusionary.
Writing in the Toronto Star, columnist Emma Teitel says that such “gendered holidays” are “generally a drag for non-binary parents who don’t identify with a single gender.”
Oh Canada.....
