IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

National Day the Music Died day

The Day the Music Died Day is always observed on February 3rd. This day we remember the unfortunate and untimely death of singers 22-year-old Buddy Holly, 17-year-old Richie Valens, and 28-year-old J. P. Richardson, aka: “The Big Bopper”.  These three artists died in an airplane accident on February 3, 1959, near Clear Lake, Iowa. Their pilot, Roger Peterson, also perished in the crash.

If you missed the Civic Club meeting last night you missed a lot of pizza. Here’s a recap just for you. Get your calendar out
Mancakes is 2/11 from 8 to 11. $3 for 12 and under $5 for big kids. Non members will be $5 and $7 and yes you can join at the door.
Carti Gras parade is 2/18 if they can sweet talk Pricilla the D into hosting it. Her being the party animal she is, I don’t see this being a prob. She’ll need a little help if you’re interested.
The BBQ Cook Off is 2/25. They have somewhere around 9 teams but are looking for more. This may be the biggest one yet. Schooly is looking for volunteers too. His website is linked over there on the right.
The annual Garage Sale is on for May 20th. Beyond a doubt the largest event the CLub hosts. For all you noobs out there get ready.
A new Membership Committee / Welcoming Committee was established (again) last night. C Mann, T Viola/Buck and M Thompson are it for starters.

All the noobs was another topic last night. How to reach out to them and help them get involved. The Club is looking for solutions. Old ideas were offered up and new ideas were asked for. If you have one for Gods sake let someone know.

Who the hell is Gregorio Casar and who does he think his handing out instructions, in Spanish, to Illegals telling them how to defy US Immigration officials? No he is not an agitator in Mexico. He is not an illegal in California. He’s not even an Illegal in Texas. He’s an elected City Council member in Austin. The best part is instruction number two. He tells them to plead the 5th.
The irony is too much.
Here's something for everyone who is sick of politics, trolls and Facebook, Fro our friends at Mental Floss I give you

Happy Weekend Y'all!
