IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

NATIONAL MOLDY CHEESE DAY

National Moldy Cheese Day is a unique holiday that is celebrated each year on October 9.
Cheeses such as maytag blue, roquefort, briebleu, camembert, gorgonzola, and stilton are why this day set aside. YUMMMMMMMMMM

Interesting City Council meeting last night. The majority of the meeting involved waterfront leases that are/were about to be revoked by the City for one reason or another. Maybe it’s just me but I think two years is long enough to respond to a notice from the City about repairs that may be needed. I know a few of the folks on the Waterfront Committee and I think they have one of the toughest gigs on the Island. Has anyone served more than one consecutive tour of duty on that committee?

Jim McGurr was on the agenda as a scheduled visitor. He is really, really really concerned about pollution. Specifically the pollution in our city. Even more specifically the sources of the pollution at the old Beer Garden, Under Opus’ and the Farmers Market lot. It seems his grandson caught a flounder with cancer and he’s sure that’s why. I’m pretty sure he told me he called in the State to review these places to make sure they weren’t poisoning all of us via the Farmers Market. Short version, He just wants the EDC to stop all forward progress on the Town Center until the State (or him?) says it’s OK. I’m gonna ponder on this some more.

We are one step closer to getting a micro brewer of our own. If it goes through, and it looks like it will, (Sorry Jim) Frank gets to retire, the Brew Guys get a bigger facility it which to work their magic, we get a new place to hang out and the City gets a new revenue stream. Bingo. Great job EDC!

George is looking for a volunteer or two to help with the Children’s Library. It sounds like some of our neighbors are leaving it a mess and we need to find some more responsible folks to straighten it up.

We also hired two full time police officers. Jeremy’s been here for a while but Evan (he’s a big un’) is a new face. Introduce yourself when you get the chance. And congrats to Zac, he was promoted to Corporal.

North shore is damn near extinction but a few remain. Keep your eyes open. Jim McGurr has always been buddies with jean and Larry the remaining few might be getting bored and have found a new avanue to stir up trouble. North shore is like bamboo. Almost impossible to get rid of and you have to make sure every root is dug up and disposed of or it will keep coming back and be a pain in your ass. Eyes open pepole.

Good call anon. That's the first time I've seen Larry there in a while.
