IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr

Who guessed it?
It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day was founded by John Baur and Mark Summers (aka Ol’ Chumbucket and Cap’n Slappy) in 1995.   Click here for the entire story!

Hello Clear Lake Shores Civic Club members, CLS Residents, and animal lovers!

As you know Barktoberfest 2014 is coming to Jarboe Park October 18th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Civic Club has a pet friendly day of fun activities planned for you, including a Walk-your-Dog-a-thon, golf cart parade, pet competitions, pet specialist demonstrations, Silent Auction, White Elephant Sale, local vendors, and Oktoberfest themed food, refreshments and oompah music!

Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Bay Area Pet Adoptions. And one of the ways you can help us do that is to participate in our “Walk-your-dog-athon” and Pet Competitions.

About the Walk-Your-Dog-A-Thon
The idea is for participants to collect pledges from your family, friends, and business associates, with all proceeds going to Bay Area Pet Adoptions. Then join us for a lovely walk (or run) around Clear Lake Shores with (or without) your dog. Water will be provided to walkers and dogs.

Registration will begin at 9 am (or you can pre-register). The walk-a-thon will begin at 10 a.m. from Jarboe Park.  Prizes will be awarded for highest pledge amounts in a number of age categories.  What a great activity for both kids and adults!

Please see the Barktoberfest website at  www.clscivicclub.com/barktoberfest to download a pledge form and to learn more about our “Walk-your-dog-athon,” or contact Pamela Zuteck at Pam@clscivicclub.com or 281-796-0609.

About the Pet Competitions
Calling all talented four legged friends (and their parents)! You will have an opportunity to display your many skills and abilities.  And of course, prizes will be awarded for whoever comes out on top.  Competitions will begin at 1 p.m.
  • Best Tricks – show us what you can do!
  • Best Costume – come wow the judges with your creativity!
  • Dog and Parent Look Alike – who falls closest to the tree?!
  • Best in Show – dog we would most want to take home (well…outside of the “oh so darling” Bay Area Pet Adoptions doggies, of course)

Please see the Barktoberfest website at www.clscivicclub.com/barktoberfest to learn more about the Pet Competitions, download Pet Competition Registration form, or contact June Sneider for more info: june@clscivicclub.com.

Please help us get the word out about Bartktoberfest by sending the website link to your family, friends, and business associates. And don’t forget to LIKE us on Facebook!

Thank you for supporting Barktoberfest and Bay Area Pet Adoptions! See you at Barktoberfest on October 18th!
