Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. People have used chewing gum for over 5,000 years. 


Civic Club News
This Thursday is CLSCC meeting and potluck dinner at the clubhouse. Come at 7:00 and share a meal with us, or arrive at 7:30 for the meeting.

There are some WONDERFUL October events coming up, and we can use help with them.  Come to the meeting and sign up.

THANKSGIVING DINNER TICKETS will be available at the meeting or at BARKTOBERFEST Oct. 18.  This year we are pre-selling the tickets so we can better plan the meal.  Those showing up at the door  without a ticket may be out of luck.

The ISLANDER is looking for a PROOF READER.  The job should take about 2 hours a month.  You can respond to this email if that's something you could do.

 Kimmy Johnson is looking for someone to roast some weenies for the Childrens Fishing Derby. Any takers?

Looking for something to do next weekend?  Join me for a Margaritaville Cruise on the Star Gazer, Saturday October 4th, 5 ~ 7:30 PM. Boarding time is 4:30PM.

What a fun way to kick off your weekend....a 2 1/2 hour cruise of Clear Lake, The Boardwalk and the Bay, lots of Phine Pheathered Phriends, gourmet cheeseburgers, margaritas and dessert!  All this and some of your favorite Trop Rock tunes with yours truly! (Not Jimmy Buffet on a six string as noted in the link! LOL!)

I know you can get margaritas and cheeseburgers almost anywhere, but this is all about the boat ride!  How many times have you seen the boats going in or out from the bridge or the boardwalk and thought, "Wouldn't it be nice to be on that boat...". Well here's your chance!

Hello Clear Lake Shores Civic Club members, CLS Residents, and animal lovers!

As you know Barktoberfest 2014 is coming to Jarboe Park October 18th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Civic Club has a pet friendly day of fun activities planned for you, including a Walk-your-Dog-a-thon, golf cart parade, pet competitions, pet specialist demonstrations, Silent Auction, White Elephant Sale, local vendors, and Oktoberfest themed food, refreshments and oompah music!

Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Bay Area Pet Adoptions. And one of the ways you can help us do that is to participate in our “Walk-your-dog-athon” and Pet Competitions.

About the Walk-Your-Dog-A-Thon
The idea is for participants to collect pledges from your family, friends, and business associates, with all proceeds going to Bay Area Pet Adoptions. Then join us for a lovely walk (or run) around Clear Lake Shores with (or without) your dog. Water will be provided to walkers and dogs.

Registration will begin at 9 am (or you can pre-register). The walk-a-thon will begin at 10 a.m. from Jarboe Park.  Prizes will be awarded for highest pledge amounts in a number of age categories.  What a great activity for both kids and adults!

About the Pet Competitions

  • Best Costume – come wow the judges with your creativity!
  • Dog and Parent Look Alike – who falls closest to the tree?!
  • Best in Show – dog we would most want to take home (well…outside of the “oh so darling” Bay Area Pet Adoptions doggies, of course)

This is a friendly reminder that the deadline to submit any columns, articles, ads, stories, photos and your children's fall/Halloween artwork for the cover page is due a week from today! The sooner the better, so don't wait until the last minute if you can submit early.
Please send all your submissions in Word or PDF format to our Webmaster, Theresa Buck. Her email address is webmaster@clscivicclub.com.
Please note that we do not format your submissions so they need to be "camera ready" or ready to go online.
We are now asking for volunteers to be chairs and help organize our October events of National Night Out, BBQ Cook-off and Children's Halloween Party! Please contact me if you can help us with these events. If we don't get volunteers to help, we'll have to cancel the activities and that will be quite a shame. Step up and get involved in your Civic Club! We need everyone to be involved.
