IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

National Underwear Day?

Yup. It’s also National Night out for the rest of the country. Ours is in October when it’s 20 degrees cooler.

It’s official! Rock on Brownsville!
Today the state of Texas and SpaceX announced that, contingent upon final approval of local agreements and receipt of additional required permits, the rocket company will build a spaceport in South Texas.

Did we understand that the civic club is broke ? Because Dennis hooked them in on a copier ? Good lord !

I thought building permits expired. How can anyone build with an expired permit?

Al, you did a great job discussing the "storage room". If anyone believes it is a storage room...
Vern, glad you would not let them get off course with the other properties.

Be prepared, these two will spend 10 times what they would make renting their "storage room" in attorney fees.

Joe, Joe, Joe, did I hear a recap of CC correctly? Your fishing buddies defecate on Blue Point. Holy crap. Your neighbor is not the problem. You basically are flipping the bird to the City in the grossest way possible. Chief Cook - round up the boys and start making some arrests.

I was at CC last night and am beyond disgusted with what Joe and his buddies are doing. A neighbor should not have to call you to get out of her drive. Why not make sure they don't park on the street period. Problem solved.

As for L & P, I guess I want to know if their permit was posted in visible sight. That is a part of any permitted job - the rules. If it was not posted, I question if they were trying to get one over on the City. And if it was not posted, the job should have been shut down, like any job is. The rules apply to ALL.

Disappointed in council's decision not to act on picking up trash fee for the residents of CLS due to a lack of a second. Hopefully, it is a budget issue that will be addressed at the next budget workshop.

So there is a person agitated because they pay $11 a month for garbage disposal and have very little garbage while others pay $11 a month and have more garbage. Good grief! Notice the person isn't complaining about their garbage collection fees being too high. No, the complaint is that some people do not have to pay more. Warning: ADVICE FOLLOWS - Be careful about stirring up a pot of nothing. Your personal discontent and your desire to see others endure a financial penalty has an inverse realtiionship to an overall sense of happiness. Why not take your mental energy and devote it to something more meaningful?

Is your garbage being handled properly? If so....don't worry your small mind and get all hot and bothered riding around the island counting up garbage bags set out on the street. If you think through this in a complete and non-lazy way you would realize that it is best for the entire community to have garbage collected at low cost to all. By increasing the fees some are required to pay, you incentivize 1. Dumping illegally 2. Unseemly piles of crap in yards because people don't want to pay more or maybe can' afford to pay more to get rid of their trash.

Permits come with a time frame. If it expires they can be renewed. From what has been said, it doesn't sound like the M's renewed.

I thought paying for garbage by buying bags was a brilliant idea. My first thought was it might get more ppl to recycle.

To whomever responded to the disgruntled trash-picker telling him to be happy with the status quo, Kudos to you my friend. We need more people like you in leadership positions on this island. It seems that without NS to gang up on we have to find every little thing to pick on and we ultimately end up turning on each other.
I commend you for your command of reason. Hopefully some of these angry people will listen.

There is a bible story about the person who starts working in the field in the morning gets upset because the people who started working in the afternoon got paid the same amount. Its a good one. Count your blessing and realize their is probably someone thinking you are getting away with something without paying your full due.

Who could possibly bitch about paying $11 a month for garbage pick up. Get a freaking life you POS

Joe has always been kind of out there but I think he has finally lost his mind

Permits do not expire , only if you have a 6 month break with no work . Driving a nail is considered work .

Uh huh, all it takes is a nail. Rumor has it there is a 14year old bldg permit in use on Oak.

I am interested in the bible story. Not familiar with that one. But I heard another story. It was about a fool who heard the fee for basic phone service on a landline was $18.00 a month. His cousin talked on the phone all day, yet paid only $18.00. The fool didn't make two calls a week. The fool had only one friend, who didn't want to talk on the phone all day. So the fool spent days going from tavern to tavern collecting as many phone numbers and names as he could. Once he had a substantial amount of names and numbers, he began to spend hour after hour on the phone with these people. And the fool felt that now, he was getting even with his cousin who stayed on the phone all day. He ended up with the ol smashed ear syndrome. He wasn't happy. But he was even. Then.....

Why does the city allow inexperienced low budget builders that only lower every bodies future value.
