IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Barktoberfest 2104 is Almost Here!

Hello Clear Lake Shores! Barktoberfest 2014, benefitting Bay Area Pet Adoptions, is coming to Jarobe Bayou Park on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (rain date is Oct. 25). If you haven’t done so already, mark your calendars NOW! You won’t want to miss this event!

Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Bay Area Pet Adoptions.

To help reach that goal for Bay Area Pet Adoptions, the Civic Club is planning a fun-filled, pet friendly day of activities, including a Walk-Your-Dog-A-Thon, golf cart parade; pet competitions, pet specialist, demonstrations such as flyball and K-9 training, and also a pet psychic, caricaturist, and pet photographer.  And to get your holiday shopping started early, we’ll have a silent auction, white elephant sale, and plenty of vendors selling their distinctive merchandise. To top it all off, visit the “Bier Garten” where Allen Batchelor and his great team of folks will be serving Oktoberfest themed food and drinks, accompanied by oompah music!
For up-to-date information about Barktoberfest, visit the Clear Lake Shores Civic Club Barktoberfest website at www.clscivicclub.com/barktoberfest. There you can learn more about Barktoberfest events, how to become a sponsor, register for the Walk-a-thon and pet competitions, donate a silent auction item, reserve a vendor booth, and learn how you can help if you are unable to attend.  You can also follow on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ClearLakeShoresBarktoberfest or email Susan Adams and susan@clscivicclub.com or call 281-380-2947 for more information.

If you have a 10x10 tent or 6’ or 8’ tables that you can loan us for the day, or have a silent auction item to donate, please contact Susan Adams. And if you have any clean, empty containers suitable for gift baskets, please drop them off at 516 Clear Lake Road (please place them on the white bench under the balcony).

Please help us get the word out about Barktoberfest by sending the website link to your family, friends, and business associates. And don’t forget to like us on Facebook! You can also help us meet our goal by donating directly to Bay Area Pet Adoptions if you are unable to attend. A link is on the Barktoberfest website.

Bay Area Pet Adoptions is a non-profit, 501(c)3 No-Kill shelter, pet rescue, and adoption organization that relies on donations from the public to house, feed, and medically care for the dogs and cats taken in its adoption program. It is not operated or funded by any national animal group and must rely on contributions from the public to keep its shelter open.

Thank you for supporting Barktoberfest and Bay Area Pet Adoptions. See you on Oct. 18th!
