IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Lose your ride?

From the good folks in the office,
“We have a very nice lady’s bicycle in very good condition (26 inch wheels) that was found abandoned near City Hall.  If anyone wishes to claim it, come to City Hall and give us a description ( at least the color) and claim it.
We also have a couple of folding (fabric type) lawn chairs that have been here for a while that were abandoned at the Pavilion.”

NATIONAL ONE CENT DAY
National One Cent Day is celebrated each year on April 1.  This day is all about the one cent piece (the penny).
The Lincoln cent is the current one cent coin of the U.S. dollar.  Adopted in 1909, it replaced the Indian Head cent.  From 1959  to 2008, the reverse side featured the Lincoln Memorial. Four different reverse designs in 2009 honored Lincoln’s 200th birthday and a new, permanent reverse – the Union Shield – was introduced in 2010.

Dumbest crap I've read so far this week.
An Austin man who shares the first name of a cross-dressing detective in the 1989 movie Tango & Cash has no grounds for a lawsuit, a federal magistrate has ruled.
Gabriel Seale, 39, sued Warner Bros. Entertainment in U.S. District Court in Austin for $250,000, claiming that the movie character Gabriel Cashharmed Seale's reputation.
"I was very embarrassed when Kurt Russell (Gabriel Cash) was dressed as a woman with lipstick, a woman's mini skirt, and woman's high heel shoes while he was the character Gabriel Cash in the film Tango & Cash," Seale stated in his complaint filed Jan. 23.
We need to talk this guy in to moving to Florida.

Will someone plz clarify the Civic Club minutes which said: Pege reported yachty Gras was a huge success. Civic Club spent $892 and so did the City. There were 32 golf carts in the parade.

So the Civic Club did contribute OUR money and were involved? Certainly that money did not go towards the golf cart parade.

I hope our Water Board Candidate will explain why the Sandbar has to sue them in her letter to the city. I wish there was a Candidates Night so she would have to answer in person.

She won't be able to comment due to the lawsuit... bla bla bla.

She always got my vote, well until now. No way Jose.

I thought something did not add up when I read the minutes. Yes, have a printed reported to share with all at the Civic Club mtg. Leave some extras at the City Offices. Transparency is always good. Otherwise something is under-handed.

The word "transparancy" being used by an Anonymous poster is classic.

Yawn........such fire and passion about inane things. And yet there were only 6 people at the City Council meeting last niight. 6. Sad situation.

And there will likely be only double that amount at the Civic Club Meeting on Thursday night.

Get out from behind your computers, show up, and make a difference if you think these are really important items. If not, STFU and contact your local realtor. The market is kicking right now and there are lots of folks who would LOVE to live in this fantastic neighborhood that all you do is bitch about.

Sandbar in CLS should never open, just another place for the town drunks to hang out.

No one is complaining about the neighborhood dumb ass. We are pointing out there seems to be something very shady about this whole thing first the citizens aren't allowed in their own park for the parade and now no one can seem to explain where a huge majority of the funds went.if I had been a sponsor or had donated my time to this event I wouldn't be posting here I would be contacting the ag or whoever investigates this kind of thing. You seem to be hoping this will just go away. Are you nervous about somthing.

Anonymous said...

The whole thing has already gone away. You missed it, apparently.

I think he's hoping you will go away. And take the name calling with you. And take the other three people that spend their day posting silly commentary and pointless criticisms with you. And consider that this is a neighborhood blog and if you're so interested in what happened with some silly parade then go find out who was responsible and solve the problem. I believe that everyone will agree that nobody would like to see the park closed again. I believe it's been shown that the Civic Club had nothing to do with the park closing. The Civic Club nor the City had anything to do with what happened to the money. Somebody came here and arbitrarily threw out a number and now you want to know why the Sea Scouts didn't get it. The island was invited to a party on Friday night. I hope you were there and I hope you had fun and I hope you contributed a little rather than just suck up the free booze and food. But, either way, it was there for you to enjoy. Saturday night there were a couple of pots of beans and one pot of gumbo and what was left of the keg from Friday night. That was for the judges and their guests. Closing the park was bad. I bet it doesn't happen again. A few people in our community worked hard and our city was well represented. We should thank those people and take the witch hunt to the Yachty Gras committee if that's what you're so interested in. But, I bet they don't have an anon button for you huh? Easier to hide here and pretend like you're doing something about it I guess. We will see you at the event next year. You know why? Cause you nor anyone else will be willing come out and say anything negative about it in public. Back to the point. If you don't like it there are a few options, plenty of agents willing to list your home and the market is hot. Better than that though, get involved. As smart as you are and as much as you know about how this should all be ran - come on down and straighten it all out.... oh yeah, you are too busy volunteering somewhere else right? Your opinion is welcome. Your attitude isn't. This is a good place. Make it better.

For those of you that remember David Rompot, I heard from his neighbor in Seabrook that he died of a heart attach about two weeks ago. He lived for many years across from Allan B, and sold his house to Curtis. he then built the beautiful stucco house across from Mike Bass. David was a good guy. I saw him 3 weeks ago at a party and he looked great, so you just never know when your time here is over.

We all recall benefit for Jan, when her husband passed. I believe there was 20k donated freely. No one paid themselves. Yachtygras Carol assured that night at council that all proceeds would go to sea scouts. When everyone does the right thing, true good happens for a worthy purpose. Jan was blessed. Look at Carol's website. The amounts she broadcasts are enormous and then offers $2500.00. It is appalling that this is declared a success. Look for your selves.

You are right anon the yachty gras web site doesn't have an anon button. Because it's comment section has been closed since the parade. What a surprise. I'm sorry you can't see why pepole think there is a problem with the numbers, I think you just don't want to see it. I agree it isn't the civic clubs fault or the city's fault and have from the beginning. Like I have said many times I just think the city needs to steer clear of this event or get answers as to where the majority of the money went. The sponsors also need to make sure where their money is going. It's just common sense and good business.

And I can't wait for it to happen again next year, which I predict it will. Friday night was an absolute blast. Don't you realize that part of the reason the city supported it was to its residents a new thing to experience? They basically bought you a ticket and you passed. It's a real shame you missed it. I realize rhat would have meant you had to leave your house but you should try to make it next year.

Well good folks of CLS , after a month of hashing this one out , looks like we have a professional fundraiser/ party planner amongst us that pays herself Real well Now ain't that special ? Who's. the Parasite ?

Anonymous said...

Several ppl may have paid themselves well. The City and Civic Club are fools to have contributed funds for a few to skim off the top and middle, leaving little for the sea scouts. It is a shame. Some folks can only see things from the perspective of how can they benefit. What is in it for them?

And yet there were 2 open positions on Council this year and no gutsy ANONs stepped up. You lose, AGAIN.

However, the position of the Civic Club President is also open. Here is your big chance to do it your way.

Come out, come out, cowards.
