IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Happy...

You get to pick. It’s National Dentist Day, National Oreo Cookie Day and National Frozen Food Day. I pick Oreos.

Civic Club meeting is tonight. Starts at 7:00 for the Pot Luck and the meeting will start as close to 7:30 as I can manage. We have lots to talk about and that is mostly the upcoming Easter activities and a new Club President. That’s for you anon, you will no longer have a reason to boycott your Civic Club.
To everyone else my money says anon will have another excuse before I get done typing. Par.

Just got off the phone with our insurance company. Liability on our buggie is $92 a year. Full coverage will run $123 per year with a $100 deductible. I asked Aisha if anyone could get a policy with Allstate and she said yep. If you’re interested call her at 281-334-6255. She’ll ask for your S/N.

I don't want to tell you how much insurance I carry with the Prudential, but all I can say is: when I go, they go too.

Wondering who will fill your shoes Allan. That will be one tough act to follow. Thanks for all you did for the Civic Club.

For the few that work nights and cannot attend mtgs. will someone please clarify if the Civic Club or Council that closed the park? Or did the cigar smoker sleeze it thru all by his almighty self?

No one knows. The only true way to know would be to cut off J.B.'s fingers again but her old ones have not grown back yet.

So....it will forever be called "The Great Park Closing Mystery". You now have something to tell your grandkids about.

And please try to start getting some sleep.

City Council did not close the park. AB Is the president of the civic club I don't think he had anything to do with it's closing but he should know the answer can you tell us AB

The agreement the city made with the Yachty Gras Organization called for the judges stand to be at Deep Hole Park. It was not fully understood that the park would be off limits to anyone but the judges until just before the event. The city is responsible, not the Civic Club, not one individual citizen, but the city and the city alone. This obviously will not occur again.
I’d like to add while there has been a tremendous number of complaints about how the situation was handled I see no new faces when it comes time to plan events in the city. The same people seem to volunteer, and the same Anons seem to complain. You want things done differently…VOLUNTEER! If you are not willing to help plan and do the work, please don’t complain when the same few do time and time again.

Police have put north shore sovereigns on short leash. Poodle- poo is on a lot of islanders. Watch out don't let them poo on you

I just went to the Texas Dept of Public Safety, under golf carts and it does not list having to have insurance on your cart. Just the headlights, taillights, mirror, parking brake and slow moving sigh.

Ronnie posted a notice on Facebook on Feb. 19 that Deep Hole park would be reserved for judges, their families, dignitaries, etc. Apparently not many people saw that or they'd have been forewarned.

Word needs to be made public long before an event in multiple medias. I have wished there was a calendar to look a few months ahead.

I am glad to see a Councilman blogging. Thank you, Carlo. I am so glad you will hold office for another 2 yrs.

I remember 20 yrs ago when the globe lights were installed. They were a huge hit back then. But so outdated now. The new look is so fresh and nautical. Great job. That bit was inspired by AB quote.

Anybody see the article in the Chronicle. http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/bayarea/news/article/One-man-community-megaphone-turns-captain-s-log-5289828.php

Tom, the only thing shocking about the article in the Chronicle is that Alan is 60! I thought he was about 45. Is that a typo Alan?

Thank you Carlo for your response and for running for council again. We appreciate you. I do disagree with your point though. You do not have to volunteer, plan or do the work to complain. A lot of pepole do other good deeds off of the island that consumes their time but it is their park also and they can complain all they want if they see a problem. This notion that if you aren't on a committee you don't have a voice is nonsense. But I for one do appreciate those of you who do volunteer on the island
