IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Busy times

OK two things up top. The Club meeting is Thursday and we need you there. As a general rule I leave you alone ( for the most part) but we really need to hear from you Thursday. See you there.

Next RCR will have a lift on the Island for some tree work starting tomorrow. If you have a need now is the time. It'll even save you a few $$ and who doesn't need that this time of year.

Aspens is having their Grand Opening this Saturday the 7th. Yes I double checked it this time. Slim Simmons is doing his acoustic set starting at 3 then Ben Reyna from 6:30 til9:30. A DJ will take over until 10:30. Beer promo girls and shot girls will be there to take care of you in the meantime.

This from Councilman Booren:
Good afternoon! It’s not too late to donate! I am still collecting items to send a great big ginormous care package oversees for our troops just in time for the holidays. The donation will go toward an organization called Blue Star Mothers of America, who will package everything up and send it on its way.
Please consider purchasing an item or two and making a donation. You can drop it off at my house, or I will come to you to pick it up.
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, either monetarily or with items. Clear Lake Shores is AWESOME!
Attached is a list of items. Surely you can find something on this list!  :) I need to have the items by THIS THURSDAY, December 5 so I can load up my car and take everything to Humble on Dec. 7 for a packing party.

This from Neighbor Diane
Would you mind posting on the blog that I am collecting stuffed animals for the local nursing home again this year? I would love to have one for every resident. Sarah and her roommate (Brittany) will be going with me to distribute them on Christmas morning. They are going to provide the music. (No don't worry, I will not sing). This was a big hit last year. It even brightened the day of some of the male residents too. I currently have 30 something in a closet ready to go. They told me they have about 168 residents.

Our address is 226 Narcissus. Tom has placed a large plastic box on the left side of our entry way with a sign.

PUT THIS ON YOUR CALENDAR!!!
Public Meeting to Discuss Bacteria in Jarbo Bayou
BACTERIA STUDY

The Houston-Galveston Area Council, in conjunction with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), invite you to join us for a Public Meeting to discuss a Bacteria Study (TMDL) for Jarbo Bayou.

Meeting Details:
December 12, 2013
1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Club House
931 Cedar
Clear Lake Shores, TX 77565

About the Bayou
Jarbo Bayou, located in Galveston County, is a tributary of Clear Lake. Since 2002, high concentrations of bacteria, which are found in both human and animal waste, have been observed in the bayou.

The presence of these bacteria may indicate a health risk to people who swim or wade in the bayou-activities referred to as "contact recreation" in the Texas Surface Water Quality Standards.

Why a Public Meeting?
The purpose of this Public Meeting is to:

 1.  Share Study findings, to-date;
 2.  Receive feedback from the community; and
 3.  Present information on next steps.

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, H-GAC will provide for reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities attending H-GAC functions. Individuals requiring language interpretation or those with special communication needs should contact Kathy Janhsen<mailto:kathy.janhsen@h-gac.com>, Public Outreach and Education Planner, at least 24-hours prior to the event.

It's R & C Lawn Care and I Will have the lift tomorrow only so if you need some help call tonight or early tomorrow. You didn't get the name quite right but thanks for the shout out Mr. B. It's the thought that counts and I realize your just coming off the bench from the injured list so I will cut you some slack. Very little but some.

Has anyone heard golf carts will be illegal on the streets due to no air bags and seat belts? Tell me it can't be so in CLS.

with that assumption – motorcycles, bicycles, tricycles, battery powered scooters and skateboards – and for the love of god BARBIE cars will now become illegal. Guess you’re going to have to keep that classic parked in the garage and put the riding mower on craiglist. Was any logical thinking used about your post prior to clicking the publish button?

Wow critisizing someone's logic while useing 6 non licensed examples and only two that would apply and only one of those was a car. Just sayin, pot calling the kettle black

Federal law enforcement agents armed with search warrants descended Thursday morning on a residence in the Clear Lake area per today's Houston Comical.

The agents with Homeland Security Investigations arrived about 8 a.m. in the 100 block of Queen Road near N. Shore Drive in Clear Lake Shores.

The article added the agents were executing search warrants as part of an ongoing investigation.

What is happening in our neighborhood?
