IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

“NOTIFICATION OF THE REQUIREMENT TO REMOVE DEAD AND/OR DYING TREES FROM PRIVATE PROPERTY
Within the City of Clear Lake Shores, there are a number of dead or dying trees on private property that are in danger of falling and causing significant property damage.  In order to prevent such damage the City is requesting that all such trees be removed.  The Building Official, Jack Fryday, is currently inventorying the Island to identify all such dead or dying trees.  A letter will be sent to each property owner that is affected with a request to have such tree removed.
The City ordinance that addresses this is section 66-178, paragraph (b) that reads as follows:
“Dead, diseased or infested trees prohibited.  It shall be unlawful for the owner of any lot or parcel of land within the city to permit or maintain on any such lot or parcel of land, any dead, diseased or infested tree as determined in accordance with the city’s policies and procedures; and it shall be the duty of the owner of such lot or parcel of land upon which is situated a dead, diseased or infested tree to abate such condition within ten days of receipt of written notice of the existence of the condition from the city.  Any dead, diseased or infested tree removed in compliance with written notice from the city as required by this subsection shall be exempt from the permitting requirements of this article.”
If there are any dead trees on your property, please have these removed no later than the end of April.  Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
George Jones
City Administrator”

And I heard from Craig Ward that he is arranging to have several trees taken down. He wants all to know that the more folks that sign up to have a tree removed the more the cost comes down per tree.

And hot off the wire from our very own Senor Beans....
Hello Friends!

It's that time again!  Winter is over and Yours Truly is back at Noah's Ark for a "Parrothead Friday Night" (sounds like a song doesn't it?).

If you are a regular you know how much fun Fridays can be with our gang.  If you have never witnessed it for yourself, don't worry, you don't have to be a Parrothead.  Just come on out and join us for a good time.

Music starts at 7PM and goes til 10.  The food, beverages and company are top notch and it's easy to find.  Just go East on FM646, either from SH 146 or from I-45 until you hit the water.  Take a left, go one block and you're there.  Don't forget to take the left turn though!  If you are a Mapquest navigator the address is 4438 Boulevard Road, Bacliff TX.

I hope to see you all there and am excited to share some tunes with you again!  Thanks for all your support!

We have a new community garden going in on Clear Lake Road. It has some wonderful people setting it up and they have some great ideas. There are no "individual plots" but you can bring something to plant and share with the community. I am going to Maas today and find a few favorites I would like to see. I will be so grateful to have someone tending while I am away and I will weed, water, and harvest when I am home. I think they need tools and until the water is set up all the way they may need you to bring a bucket or two. Stop by and see YOUR garden!!
