IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Geek Alert!
Star Trek, The original series made it's TV debut! What a franchise. Check out the Google doodle.

Radar says the front is off shore as of an hour ago.

Don't forget we have the internationally famous Senor Beans at Jammin' on Jarboe tonight. The weather should be spectacular. See you there.

Don't think I mentioned it yet but we are going to get pickup bills from the trash company any day now. Seems we spent too much money last year and Council had to cut that freebie. Oh well, It was fun while it lasted. Thanks Clear Lake Shores, and hopefully we'll get back on track and we might get free trash pickup back.

The first ever Clear Lake Shores BBQ Cook-off is back on the calendar for October 6th. It will be a busy day that includes the Childrens' Fishing Derby and will be topped off with the final Jammin' concert of the year. For entry instructions drop me a line at allanmbatchelor@gmail.com

I'm going hunting for that cool front.......

Can we just go put our trash in Bernie/Kathy's and Tami's yard?

They dumped on us. Shouldn't we be able to dump on them.

Tami, you are a fool.

I am looking for the "like" button for the above post. Yes, NS owes us all. Especially Paul, the most devoted man in CLS. How are we going to celebrate his retirement?

Roselyn said...

You people dont realize that Paul is only about 59, 60 years old and he is not RETIRING. He will be leaving here and seeking other employment.

Our new council has decided his job is worth $20,000 less than we were paying him. If you were Paul would YOU take a $20,000 pay cut? Especially after putting up with all the shit the Shelley's had to put up with for a year?

Its like when people are fired and then telling their friends they were LAID OFF.....all linguistics.

Anyway, Paul will get some retirement income because he worked here a hundred years, but its not enough for him to go home and sit in the rocking chair.

Just wanted to be sure everybody understood that he is NOT retiring from the work force. You will see him hired rather quickly by another city or corporation.

Oh, but by the way, as Paul is on his way out the door because he wont take a $20,000 pay cut, he lets us know that we can collect sales and liquor tax from about 30% of Kemah's taxes because The Aquarium, Allan's Crab Shack and part of the Marina are in the Clear Lake Shores city limits.

Roselyn, Not sure where you are getting your information but Paul was NOT asked to take a pay cut. The new salary was established AFTER he submitted his resignation and retirment paperwork to the city. At that time he also stated he would neither consider or accept any offer put forth by the council for continued empoloyment with CLS. That after 20 years with CLS it was time for himto move on. It is this type of gossip and misinformation that lead to the disasterous 2011-2012 year CLS had. Please be more careful about what you post. If you have questions or concerns ask don;t assume.

Thank you Carlo for clarifying this...I too was hearing all the gossip and mis information and bit my tongue out of respect for Paul and his privacy.

Roselyn said...

I have heard no gossip. I talk directly to the source. I do not sit around my house making shit up to advance myself in any way.

Again, a linguistics problem.... Paul hears that the pay is going to be $20,000 less than he is making, so he makes a decision to not continue. If I misled by saying you offered him the job and he refused, then I apologize.

I suggest you both call Paul before you assume I am sitting around making up gossip and misinformation.

Thank you, Carlo. Before we get side tracked, let's focus on how the City can celebrate Paul's devotion to CLS the past 20 plus years? Will the City be taking the lead on planning his party? Have not heard much on what they are planning for the City's 50th Anniversary. Allan and the Civic Club can do it all...

Are there any bets that Bernie will put his application into the ring for Paul's replacement? I think that was part of NS original plan a year ago. They wanted to get rid of Tina and Paul. In some ways they won. Darn. At least we have a Council that knows better to even consider that wacko. Sure wish Paul would reconsider...

Paul was talking to me a few months ago abut wanting a five year contract, so I guess something changed in the past few months.

Roselyn's right, I spoke to a council person a several months back and I understood that Paul stepped down with a pay cut and signed a contract with the city so he wouldn't sue the city or the ppl who started this sh*tstorm. He hasnt filled retirement papers, just a notice that he plans on leaving, which he read at a meeting. No wonder why they are filing out the door to leave. This domino line isnt close to being over
