IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Last night was awesome. Only in Clear Lake Shores! What a great place to live. It is a shame the NS crowd doesn't appreciate it like the rest of us do. All of you NS crowd really need to move so we can bring in more sane and fun folks.

I was hoping to see Bernie there last night enjoying life with the rest of us but I guess the house arrest ankle bracelet hindered that.

I am so glad we have now taken back not only Council, but now the Civic Club as well.

Rock on, Clear Lake Shores! Our future is bright.

Why don't you move to the prison? You would be comfortable there with all the other liars, thieves, scam artist, bootleggers and . Did the City, Civic Club or Allen happen to pay for the privilege to play that movie? It is a Federal Offense to commit "Copyright Infringement?" These criminal offense that Allen keeps putting the City in the middle of is getting old. Insulting women, TABC Violations, prior copyright infringement and now this. City Council needs to remove him before there are lawsuits and fines for all involved.

Yea choose to ignore and have a wonderful day. Loads of thanks to Rick and Sam who let us use the PC and sound system. Thanks to all who came - what a wonderful night. Thanks to Alan for the Popcorn and congratulations to who ever won the new Boston Whaler. If you didn't attend you missed a heck of a door prize!! We learned a bunch from this one including the parking setup to leave room between the ones on the front. Can't wait till next month.

Sorting through the sarcasm:

"Did the City, Civic Club or Allen happen to pay for the privilege to play that movie?"

Allen, you may want to read this Web Site:

http://parks.swank.com/faq.html

I don't know whose wheaties you pissed in but from reading the blog I have noticed a pattern of truth in the attacks on you. The City will have to obtain a license and the movie from this company to legally view movies at the park or the City and those involved are liable for Copy Right Infringement according to their FAQ sheet.

I checked on Wikipedia and found it isn't a scam. Looks like we need more thought put into Movie Night and other activities. The Civic Club doesn't need to give the City a black eye or anyone the ability to sling mud. I hope you get on top of this where movie night can continue. It is a good family activity.

Oh, for crying out loud, what is so wrong with having fun around here? You people who have to find something wrong with everything and everyone are the very definition of pathetic. Oh my God, you mean that some people watched a movie together?? Say it isn't so!! What in the heck is wrong with watching a movie together???? You seriously have a problem with that, too? It's such a shame that your life is so lonely and miserable that the only fun you can find is by trying to make everyone as miserable as you. Holding on to your anger is like grasping a hot coal, intending to throw at us via this blog and any other way you can, only it's YOU that gets burned. And if you truly hate the CLS way of life, then please just MOVE already.

How is this any different than watching a movie at your house with a large group of friends? How is it any different than when Stewart Elementary shows a movie in the cafeteria on a Friday night for students and their families? Did the Civic Club charge admission? I don't understand the problem. ?????

Anonymous said...

I know for a fact that the School System has an umbrella license covering this. That is all we need to do to cover ourselves as well.

While we are at it let's get that liquor license as well and do this thing up right!

Anonymous said...

CRYBABIES: You love putting it to others and using the law but whine like little babies when it is pointed out you are breaking the law. Live and let Live for one and all or expect to be held to the same standard you set.

Go read the FAQ Sheet instead of asking stupid questions.

Anonymous said...

We'll take care of it and do it right, no problem. Just like the election and the taking back of the Civic Club.....

Now go back to your cave.

Anonymous said...

Let's get the umbrella license and the same from the TABC. If it means the new water fountains or any other improvements the Civic Club would fund are put on hold,so be it. We will get all we want and more. It may just take a bit longer.

Anonymous said...

Of course NS is going to go after every tidbit they can. They lost their control. The landslide election proved they are has-beens. Their golden age is in the past. They are miserable and are not going to miss an opportunity to make others feel that way.

It won't work. We will rise above any of their crap. Bring it on, Bernie.

Ler's remember, too, in less than 10 months is his big trial. That will cost him 6 figures. Maybe some jail time...

You know NS is working hard at finding rules, food permits etc. for the BBQ cook off. Beat them to the punch.

Anybody know what the meeting was about between Tami and some of our cops at the hoagie ranch a few days ago?

Anonymous said...

Probably a "book club" update meeting, just like " " and Junkie had with Nick at Jackies Brickhouse on the clock the Saturday after he stood and watch Kenny try to fire Denise. They are bonded together to get rid of the Shellys and then again that letter about Kenny, guess they are picking out the next target...

Anonymous said...

Council, get out of the way and let Kenny do his job!

Anonymous said...

Anyone that lines up with " " has got to be s l o w and not very bright. No one with any sense could spend 5 mins. with her without realizing she is a wacko.

Anonymous said...

One of the great things about NS taking on the Civic Club and all their fun activities is Alan won't back down. He will have the support of many. You go Alan.

Anonymous said...

Counicils not staninding in the way of Kenny doing his job, hes standing in his on way.Hes had a year to prove himself and what has he accomplished? We lost Tina, the blonde officer, and paul as a chief, but the same old story is still happening??

Anonymous said...

The past Civic Club didn't have these problems. This is no one's fault but the Civic Club President who has promoted ideas and held events in violation of the law. Event planning without proper knowledge and follow through leads to these problems. These infractions of the law could have major consequences for the City. City Council needs to follow up with oversight since violations of law are responsibility of the City and they would be subject to major fines. My DVD tonight said it would be 250K dollars fine for copyright infringement.

The Civic Club knew about the TABC Rules and decided to ignore them. There is no blanket TABC or Swank permit. TABC is 250 dollars per 3 day event and Swank is per movie order. Try reading. Between the internet and a call to adjacent cities, it is real easy to find out this information if you don't know how to put on an event. Don't screw up the cook off with the same lame excuses.

Anonymous said...

All I meant was we need to get city council out of the middle and let the chief no matter who that is do his or her job. Kenny did blow it if his accusations are accurate but we need to get council out of the mix. We are the only city around here that does it that way and they are doing just fine. I agree with what council did on that Saturday but we need to change procedures.

Anonymous said...

We had one Chief (Paul) who has us involved in multiple lawsuits and his incompetent replacement is following his example. The City Council needs to keep oversight until we have a proven leader in the Police department. Just like the Civic Club, look at the incompetence there. We need oversight to keep us out of lawsuits and fines. We also need a new City attorney. He stated in the open meeting that the City Council could fire Denise. Everyone new he was wrong and we are paying to much for bad legal advice.

Anonymous said...

I keep hearing about a whole bunch of law suits. Can you tell us how each case is styled so we can look up the pleadings and see first hand what is going on and who is sueing us and for what? Secondly I think the attorney was right. As far as I know you can fire anyone for anything in Tx. as long as its not discriminatory. Isn't that true. Correct me with facts if I am wrong and please provide names and facts on these alleged pending lawsuits.

Anonymous said...

NS claimed in the seond post a federal offense was committed by Allan buy showing a drive-in movie. I am shocked the FBI wasn't called.

It is ol Bernie with 70+ counts against him. Perhaps that is why he is acting out.

I hear most of his offenses are on video. Sure wish it would be posted on YouTube. Maybe it could be shown at the drive-in movie night after the trial is over. No copyright laws would be broken. He'll get what he wants and we'll get to see the best show in town.

Scott said...

I love how the NS curmudgeon crowd is now trying to get under Allan's skin by criticizing his planning skills.

The irony is that their lack of planning skills lost them control of the Island in the recent election. There were 3 spots available, but one of them was clearly already locked up by Sowrey, and deservedly so. So, what would be the smart thing to do if you want to take it? - RUN 2 PEOPLE! That is what we did. What did North Shore do? Run 4 people. Genius.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Many of us have questioned if the city attorney's advise to fire Denise was due in part to his knowing his billable hours would increase if she took the city to court. His pattern of similar advise has certainly lead to him getting paid a trememdous amt due to the false claims against Paul.

I hope the cops that are not doing their jobs (writting ticket and serving warrents) are let go. IF there is proper documentation they would loose not only in court, but any attempt to secure another job. Future employers do not like to see you sued your last employer. Look how well Wm Young is doing securing another job...

Anonymous said...

I don't know if anyone lost in this election. The first real test of the City Council with Denise didn't give anyone a victory. If this City Council continues along that path, common sense may rule not agendas.

Anonymous said...

The Bad F5s were what hurt Officers and future jobs. Three Officers have been cleared In the TCLEOSE Hearings. Rumor has it Paul, Kenny and Vern did worst in those Hearings then Kenny did at the CC Meeting with Denise.

These Officers are part of the potential, or lawsuits that the City Council has gone into executive session over. We have not been given updates. I would like to hear them report on the status, or if the City has already settled with those Officers.

I hear Paul is trying to get a buy-out from the City so he can take a job with Texas City. Is there any truth to that?

Anonymous said...

So wish the city had not settled with Wm Young. Only Al and OB voted against settling - the wise ones. the city would have won if they would have taken it further.

The same is true for any officer not issuing tickets. They will loose in court with the property documentation.

Anyone with any admin or HR experience knows lawsuits of wrongful termination are very common. Expect them and prepare for them.

Sure hope by now Kenny has thick files growing daily.

Anonymous said...

Well anon I see there is no response to my post asking for details on the many alleged law suits you say are pending against the city. Di you make that up
Or have several law suits been filed? Why is it when asked for facts NS comes up empty every time

The cops were meeting Tami at Hoagie Ranch to get an update from her about the progress of her plan to get rid of Kenny and install Ross as Police Chief. If you read between the lines on her original complaint against Paul last year, she praises Denise and Ross.

When that does not happen it will be fun to watch the cops turn on Tami. It will be like rats in a barrel.

I wonder who chose Hoagie Ranch? The owners moved from the island to get away from Tami!

Tami's plan is to get rid of Kenny? Hilarious. She lost any power she may have had. If she is their leader that is laughable. They will go far...NOT

Anonymous said...

Someone is actually asking for facts from NS? Seriously? Their reality is so far out there they could not come up with a true fact if their life depended upon it.

Anonymous said...

READ, READ, READ, or remove the cotton (oops that is for ears) put your glasses on and use search.

Paul is leaving, just a question of when or if the City wants to buy him out. Next CC Meeting should be interesting. Kenny is to meet with the CC to answer for some more problems he has created.

This CC is keeping the info to themselves. There doesn't seem to be much information being leaked. I overheard this from the "girls".

Anonymous said...

I was told that Kenny demoted Dennise and now Nick is her supervisor?? I dont aggree with the things she did, but what a slap in the face to us and counsel to go through that meeting and then cook still gets his revenege.

I see a real lawsuit in our future for that.

Anonymous said...

It's not Cooks revenge dummy, it's the pinks revenge.

Anonymous said...

Not Pinks. Pinks suppported the cops until the unbelievable became known: that they did not support Paul.

Who said Kenny could not demote Denise? He is her boss. Denise can thank Tami, Jackie and Arlene since they are the ones that started all the crap a year ago.

Anonymous said...

Pinks revenge, you can't even put on a Civic Club function without violations of the law. You were going to fire Denise and now it looks more likely that CC will fire Cook. Paul is leaving? The rats are leaving with the sinking ship. You may have elected two people to the CC but it doesn't appear you can control them. Looks like the Pinks with the help of Allan is the laughing stock of Clear Lake Shores.

I beginning to think Amanda and Carlo may be what the CC needed to bring an end to the influence on the CC. Once Al Burns and Vern are voted out the City may be on the same page as a whole and not so divided. Keep up the good work Amanda, Arline, Carlos and Richard. I see some hope for the City.

Anonymous said...

You have an agreement between two Attorneys, the City Council, Denise and Cook that is witnessed by all present. Cook takes it on himself to change that agreement. Cook learned nothing in that meeting. The City Council gave Denise and Cook directives to follow. If Denise didn't violate those directives, Cook did, then it is Cook who will have to answer to the City Council for jeopardizing the agreement and the direct cause of any lawsuit that may follow because of his actions. The City Council told Cook that if he didn't follow their directives he would be fired. i wouldn't be surprised that they don't fire him tonight to stop any potential lawsuit.

The problem isn't the Police Force, it has been the Chiefs. TCLEOSE doesn't go against a Chief of Police unless there has been gross wrong doing on their part. Vern, Paul and Cook failed against not one but three Officer Hearings. We need to pick a Chief who is only interested in the law and not politics. Then leave the Police alone for no one had a problem with them until Paul and Tina started screwing with their F5s and Careers. If we got the right man he might even be able to resolve some of the past issues without the City having to face any lawsuits. I will way to see if the City Council can use common sense to resolve this too.

I wish I had as much power as NS thinks mike bass, the shellys, and allen b have!

Kenny Cook has a very impressive resume and 16 years of loyalty to this city.

All he needs on that resume is a Dale Carnegie class so he will have confidence speaking in public and interacting with people.

My husband MADE me take it several years ago and it is very helpful.

Dave, My two favorite movies are Mama Mia and Babe (about the pig). I have Babe and will give it to you if you want.

Thanks again, I could not hear the noise inside my house Saturday night. I and the neighbors living closeby thank you. Bless you all.

Thanks to whoever did their research on Movie copyright law and shared it with us so that we can be upstanding law abiding members of our community. If the license turns out to be too costly to get or we can't get it before movie night I bet we can find someone with a really big yard that wouldn't mind if a group of good friends got together to watch a movie in a home setting. I'm sure there will be someone who tries to pass a law for how many people you are allowed to have at your house. Ros - I LOVE the movie Babe too!!

Anonymous said...

I can't believe how kissy smoochy these guys are with Amanda and Carlo now that they have been elected. Yes they are voting based on what is best for the city instead of following a personal agenda for outside interests - that is what the ran on and why we elected them. I guess since the vote when somewhat as NS wanted it they will praise them for now. Not so much if they ever go against them. Fair weather friends/enemies. Two faced and speak with forked tongue.

Anonymous said...

did anyone understand the last post?

Babe is one of my favorites!

Anonymous said...

Dave, kick ass on getting the movies legal. I think it is great we know about this and you are charging ahead to do it right.

I have total trust in all of our Council members. No matter what comes their way they will handle it.

Anonymous said...

Dave, Perhaps the principal is still at Stewart. You could ask her how they got their umbrella license.

Anonymous said...

The main issue for Council to focus on is Paul's replacement. I wish he would stay, but if he has had enough of it here, I will wish him well. I cannot imagine who could fill his shoes.

I hope they hire his replacement prior to Paul leaving so the two of them could work together for at least a month. It would be valuble training for the new person. Even if the new CA has a lot of experience, this is a unique City and there are many things to learn. The huge issue would be Crisis Mgt. Prepping for a huricane is a huge responsibility to say nothing of the response after it hits.

Anonymous said...

I am not a violent person, but the thought of not having Paul makes me want to slap old people.

Anonymous said...

Crisis Management should be under the new Chief of Police. It will be his people who will be protecting the City and manning rescue operations with volunteers to help. This may lead to a better relationship with Kemah and an understanding to stop snapping up our Officers.

Anonymous said...

Pinks are now going to start beating old people? That is a new low even for the Pinks. Shame, shame on you.

With eminent domain will the Pink Goon Squads show up in the middle of the night to beat people into submission and force them to sign over their homes too?

Anonymous said...

Yuk....the idea of any type of physical contact with that group makes my skin crawl.
