IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Have a great weekend y’all!!

This just in from neighbors on Forest

Allan,

We still have not found Sport. Drove around for a couple hours last night all through the area and even talked to the police. We are hoping someone took him in for the night so he wasn't running around stray. Could you please post to the blog if anyone finds him to please bring him back. He is about 70 pounds all brown with grey hair around his legs and long hair on his face. He has floppy ears and looks like a mythical creature. He lost his tags 2 days ago so he is not wearing any. We live at 811 Forest.

Thank you for spending some time looking last night. I appreciate the post.

Kyhra

I agree with the previous post re: Wm Young and Lavalle coming in deadlast or second to the last in their races. That was great news. Both were up against great candidates. Glad the good guys won or will be in a run off.

I sat behind some of the NS gang yesterday while i ate a Chillis.

They were discussing Jackies situation and how they plan on pulling the same stuff on Vern. They said they have a petition currenty to get Vern to clean up his house and fix the siding I heard them say they will bring it up at next meeting Watch your 6 Vern.

Of courses,.....instead of the NS group helping Jackie clean up his junkyard, they are going to spend their energy being hateful and attacking someone else. Its just the way they roll.

On the news this AM, some woman in St. Paul Minn. got 3 months in jail, 4 years probation, and can never return to her home again because she has repeatedly harrassed her neighbor.

I am sure there is a difference between repeatedly violating ordianances and having a home that needs repair. Jack will know the difference. How far will that petition go? No where.

Bernie was running people off his waterfront while the shuttle was going by. How hateful can one person be. Instead of enjoying this historic event he was being concerned with his property being walked on. The funny thing was Craig Ward was on his property taking video with his ipad an Bernie screaming get the Fuc* off my property god Dam8 it Craig!!!!! and craig did not move but kept on shooting video!!!!!!

Craig can file charges. There is a fine of $250.00. The evidence is on video! Sweet...

Wow Dave I missed that. I remember shooting video but I didn't know I was on Bernie's waterfront and I didn't hear him. I wish I had though I could have gotten a good laugh out of Bernie's rant. Did anyone get that on tape? What a pathetic waste of human flesh. If I'm not mistaken the grass along the waterfront is public property. Only your pier is private. That's the way I have understood it for 25 years. Have I been misled?

No Craig you have not. The grass between the road and the water is parkland and anyone can be on it. If you have a pier it is private property

Craig said...

Yes that is how I have always understood it. I'm looking forward to Tuesday to welcome the new crew. Does anybody know what will be talked about Tuesday?

Ewell's (Jackie's) violation is not that his house is in disrepair. His Aspen lot has been used for years for storage of mechanical and commercial junk, boat trailers, etc. He fully understands and has been advised that by Code, a residential (R-1) lot may not be used for storage as a primary function. He has continued to refuse to comply. Like his failure to pay his taxes until dragged into court, he has refused to comply with the City's orders to clean it up. He continues to "flip the bird" to the authority of our City. This has nothing to do with how his place on Tindel "looks."

There you go again Jim, trying to point out facts to NS. THey do not have the mental capacity to separate facts from their agenda. But thanks for trying.

Jim,

You might have the answer. Is the grass around the island parkland or private property, NS members keep taking more and more city right of way and are claiming it for themselves. What are your thoughts? Hopefully the new council will put a stop to this nonsense.

Craig,
I have never seen a lease agreement for any of the waterfront property. This is city property, but the lease may or may not give exclusive use rights to the leaseholder. That would be an issue for the City Administrator and/or City Attorney to determine and enforce.

That said, the leaseholder would have no right to restrict access to the ground falling within the City right-of-way bordering the leasehold. That land is clearly public property. North Shore is a wide legal right-of-way and many of leases up there are pretty narrow.
The pavement is not the property line.

I thought the recent filing on Ewell's (Jackie's) repeated violations was on his Tindel property. Am I mistaken? Sounds like another is needed for his Aspen property.

How many 60 day extentions were given to him to clean it up? I am thinking he had at least 120 days. He took no action. None.

I was understanding that if you had a waterfront lease that you controlled the grassy area as well. Lots of people have roped theirs off during events and there are several people who will not allow others on their waterfront grass. It would be good to get an answer from the city on this. I think they are responsible for keeping it mowed and most people plant the grass and plants there. I can see where I would not want golf carts all over it in that case but during an event like Friday you would have to be a little tolerent of people walking across it to get a picture. I wish for NS the ability to simply enjoy an anger free day

One main concern is once Full of himself Fuller is fined (the $1,000 a day since Dec. or Jan.)a lien of about $150,000 on his home means he will probably never move. (Granted, he won't be out anything since he conned an exgirlfriend into paying for his home.) So where will this leave us?

He will continue to hurt this community. We will always have a waterfront junkyard. The canal will be filled with trashed, uninsured and unregistered boats. Homes in the area will never sell for what they are worth. Rats and mice will have a haven. Business will also be hurt. How many future businesses will be attracked to that area of Aspen?

The way I see it, emminent domain is the way to go with him.

Anonymous said...

There is no answer for getting someone like Junkyard Jackie to comply. His lack of action has proven that.

I am not in favor of emminent domain, but in his case, I would agree it is the only way to go. Glad to see there is an emminent domain item on this week's agenda.

Sorry I missed the news about the woman having to spend time in jail and not being allowed back to her home for bullying her neighbors. Wish that same judge could handle the numerous suits coming down the pike agaist Bernie, Kathy, Jean, Larry, " " Perkins, Junkyard Jackie, and Arline. How sweet would that be. Run them all out of town in several lawsuits.

In no time Junkyard Jackie will be behind in his taxes, too, now that he is no longer a "Councilman". (That is in quotes since he never contributed anything of value while on Council.) I doubt if Joe Huntington will pay Junkyard Jackie's taxes in the future.

Not ssure where we are going with this emmineint domaine thing but I have always been opposed to it and always will be. If this is about Jackie, I am still against it. If Jackie has leins put on his property for failing to comply with our ordinances fines will pile up and I am sure there is a way to collect or file suit and get a judgement to take his property. We either have laws in place to take care of folks like Junkyard or we should spend some time putting laws in place. Emmineint domain is not the answer. Our ordinances seem to carry no weight. I have two neighbors who have taken over the right of way on Narcissus and our last council caved in to Pam and pretended to vote it was Ok for them to do so. We need to figure out what ordinances we want and give them some teeth. You can't say it is legal to park on Narcissus as long as your tires are off of the pavement then have a kangaroo court say its ok to put rocks in the right of way to prevent folks from doing what is legal to do and creating a hazard. I personally don't care either way and im not in favor of a bunch of laws that would change our lifestyles but this is an example of how random we are which causes problems. I think we need a committee to go over the ordinances and make suggestions to the citizens and council as to which ones need attention and act upon it. I would happily volunteer for that committee
