Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Monday, Monday,

So good to me............http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h81Ojd3d2rY

So now you know what 400 lbs of crawfish, 10 lbs of shrimp, 20 lbs of sausage a couple bushels of corn and a whole mess of potatoes looks like. Everybody that had fun raise your hand. I hope you got to meet the candidates that showed up. We even got to meet some County folks who are running for office. Constable Pam Matranga was there, I heard Ray Lease was there but I missed him. Sorry Ray. A lot of you know (former) Judge Mark Foster who is running for County Commissioner. We even had some water board officials like Nancy McDonald show up. The WCID elections don’t get near the press they should. Just keep in mind they take care of OUR Fire Department! It was nice to see such a great turn out. All in all I think we can put this one in the win column.

Thanks to all who donated their time and money to get this off the ground and to Greg Stanfield, and his pit crew, Casey Davis and Lazy Bend neighbor Pricilla Duffy for doing all the cooking! Marvelous job one and all. I don’t know about you but I absolutely love seeing my neighbors getting together. All that and we raised $740 for the Jammin’ on Jarboe fund. Except for 10% that goes to the band to keep the noise down. Wink.

This is a response to the last comment in the previous blog. We could not agree more that Amanda and Carlo need to seek out the uninvolved registered voters. They got a strong indication Sunday who is supporting them. We hope they find the rest.

Especially since NS will be. They will find more than we can imagine as in the past.

We hope someone is double checking current address verification and being an American citizen prior to being allowed to vote! Please tell me Eileen Ponton will be working that day.

We read the comments in the most recent GDN article. Perhaps a fund raiser for Allan's legal defense is in order since the cop(s) that were involved did wrong. Period. We certainly hope a notation reflecting such goes into their file. That is the least that can be done. We certainly hopes it does NOT stop there. Wondering who influenced the cops? Wondering what idiot at the DA's office was involved...

Looking forward to hearing Richard Sowery's police committee's report. Take your time and do it right. We need a PD overhaul. Hope we can find cops that want to be here to do the right thing. It has become crystal clear that some of ours don't desserve their jobs in CLS. You'd think by now they would have realized they jumped onto a sinking ship. Guess they have to learn the hard way...

Don't know about you but we are wondering who will be next? As Bernie's neighbor finally realized, going to court may be the only way to stop this harrassment.

Was anybody besides me surprise at Jarboe Park Saturday that acting cheif Cook showed up in plain clothes and never really spoke to anybody other than Vern who signs his check?

I didn't understand why he was there. Somebody probably told him it would be good to come and interact with the citizens who are ultimately going to decide his fate, but he didn't interact. He sat at a table checking his iphone messages most of the afternoon.

re: Craig'spost...Bernie can barely see over the stearing wheel and there is his neighbor has a dumpster next door, so you younger folk like Craig need to keep an eye out for Bernie.

There are a lot of John Nichols Posters out on 2094 ie outside the hairdressers, Joe Lees etc. I can't see any for the other candidates, does this mean he is supported by these businesses or can anyone post out there?

Anonymous said...

You had a hugh majority with about 25 golf carts. LOL You sold beer for a donation and Kenny didn't do a thing about it. Kenny was probably ordered by Vern to be there in case TABC showed up. No wonder he was bored.

AdDum, please come out and play. You can't see anything of her but signs by the pus gang. Carlo is staying quiet and making no waves either but that may be the smartest thing do. You vote him in and then he can do what is right instead of what he is ordered to do.

Oh, the poor innocent little minded Allan. You tried to screw somebody else and this time a woman took your sexist ass down. LOL You got lucky. Dam, what an education you got in just 6 minutes. Your story was a whopper. I will bet it was more like hours. Allan, you have never shut up long enough to listen to anybody, so "Bitch", you are probably still scraping the shit out of your pants and dusting off your knees. Great listening position for you. LOL

Wow - read the post above and ask yourself if that is the group you want running your city. I much prefer the group that is talking about the sunrise service, all of our neighbors getting together as a community, and supporting each others needs. If you are like the anon above you will probably want to vote for John.

People came and went all day Sunday. I wish there was a total count of the number of people that attended. Nah, since trying to reason with the above post is trying to be rational with the insane.

Sunday was proof positive that politics can be fun. A feeling that has not happened since Arleen took office. It was a great meet and greet. A huge shout out to all those that worked so hard to make it happen. Thank you.

Kenny caught my eye and yes, it seemed odd he was not mingling. Let's face it, no one could replace our Chief Shelley. I am praying he stays on as our City Admin for a long, long time.

Bev E said...

Anon 6:53 why so scared to say who you are? You obviously have a very strong point to make but seem afraid to actually stand up and be counted? I and plenty of other residents would have a better understanding of your point of view if we knew who you were and who you would vote for and why. This is what politics should be about and not this vitriolic rant?

Anonymous said...

I am not a younger folk but you betcha I will be paying attention when I drive by Bernie's. In fact, should a stop sign be in order?

Has Carlo or Amanda worked Legend Point or the marinas? Lots of out of touch folks at both with the right to vote.

Can't wait until Nichols comes knocking. We decided not to have any Carlo or Amanda signs hoping we get to engage John in some conversation. Should be a hoot!

Anonymous said...

Glad to hear so much money was raised Sunday for Jams. Can't wait for those to start up. I doubt if folks from 25 golf cart could have raised so much. NS sure like to skew the facts don't they?

Is it possible to post a sample ballot? Will we be able to see one prior to voting? I want to share it with my uninvolved neighbors to make sure they are aware of the importance of voting in favor of the sales tax. Living by renters I always get asked about how to pay for garbage / trash. The look on their face is always fun to see. Am I in a zone or did I hear there is something about the homestead exception being on the ballot, too? Sorry.

Anonymous said...

I sure hope Carlo and Amanda don't assume they already won. NS is working harder than ever before. I hate to discount Jackie's underminded work, but I do.

Roselyn, will you lead us in a chorus or two of "Ding dong the witch is gone" after the CC in May when " "'s term ends? There needs to be a big ass party that night!

Anonymous said...

Anon at 6:53 you gross comment has motivated me to donate to Allan's legal defense. Anyone else might have deleted your disgusting words but Allan did not. That speaks volumes about his character.

Your comments about Carlo are confusing to me. I almost asked you to clarify them. What am I thinking?

It must suck to be that angry at 653 in the morning. I hope I never reach the point in my life that I have that much hate in my heart. I just hope it helps everyone see NS for who they truly are.

Adelia said...

I would also like to see a sample ballot. We really need to vote for the tax item so we keep our revenue coming - surely NS can't argue with that and if there is an item for homestead I would like to know about that. If both of those are on the ballot we do need to get our neighbors informed about those issues. I am really looking forward to Sunday - I hope I can make sunrise service and I am making some great spice lady stuffed eggs. Looking forward to the competition - you guys are so artistic and creative with your recipies. Still happy to be on the Viper team.

No anger, I just want everyone to remember what their vote represents including those candidates that showed up who didn't know all about Allan and his supporters.

I look at a sexist bigot who berates women at every turn to make himself look like a big man the same way as I do any sexual preadotor. Nobody forced Allan to berate women, or post that cartoon that all of you have condoned and that includes all of the candidates that continue to post on this blog. Twist it any way you want but the facts are still saved and will be brought forward from time to time to remind everyone of what they get from Allan and his supporters.

Take it down. it won't erase, or change the facts. Civic President, not without one hell-of-a-fight before CC. Please, give me the platform to address and name each of you for supporting him in front of the press. This isn't about an election, just what it represents to women if any of your candidates are elected. I hope to see the look on your faces against the 24x20 pics of the cartoon and the "kiss my white ass in front of CC.

Roselyn said...

Karen told me last week that she is expecting to have ballots this week.

Did anyone understand the last paragraph of 8: 53? Never mind. Not worth the reread.

Perhaps Carlo and Amanda can take the sample ballots as they walk the community. Hype all that is important. I am confident they will win by a landslide.

I am a woman business owner and have worked in typical male dominated jobs for over 20 years. I am also captain of my own vessel which was not always considered a job for a girl and is still not by many. I have seen discrimination several times in my career. I have known Alan B. for at least 5 years and he is not a sexist bigot. He has always treated me with respect. You have a lot of trauma about him using the V word but don't hesitate to say that you wish he would be raped or using the B word. hipocrite. It does kind of look like you are angry.

I dont think any of the women on this island are afraid of Alan or think we will be moved back to the dark ages if the candidates he support get elected. I know that many of us are afraid of the NS candidates and we have seen the damage they are willing to do to CLS residents.

Anonymous said...

I have never said anything about rape. There are others who post here who find him just as offense. The post you speak of I believe was posted by a man not a woman. Read it again but I don't believe it is still on here. Adelia, here is some of yours words, as the second Poster behind Bryan, and speaking so highly of Allan and his sexist cartoon. l will let everyone make their own opinion of what kind of woman puts women back in the "dark ages". Myself, I find your support a disgrace to all women.

Allan - Most of us are not afraid of the "V" word. (Sorry don't want the AG on my tail - no pun intended) After all the threats if you take it down now I will personally call you the P word. I am tired of people on this island threatining each other. Get a sense of humor or go read readers digest. Viper Girl

I will still call you pretty if you like. Alan hates it when I call him pretty so it was the biggest threat I could make. Oh wait - does not wanting to be called pretty make him a sexist bigot? You call us Vipers - the "V" word so why can't we call you pretty. I still get tired of being threatened. And I appologize about the Readers Digest thing - I personally LOVE Readers Digest.

853. you do understand Allan is not running for office right? Since you claim Amanda and Carlo support Everything Allan says and does, I assume you have spoken to each one and gotten that information straight from their mouths. Otherwise you are just making things up. As usual you are rambling about things that don't have a darn thing to do with the issues we are dealing with like town center, the budget, who our next chief will be and many other important issues. you just want to blather on about Allan and his cartoon. Allan has the right to post whatever he wants and you have the right to not read it. if you hate the blog so much why do you use it to voice your opinion with Allan's blessing. maybe it is because the other NS site doesn't allow anyone to voice their opinion. Allan and I have disagreed many times over the last 31 years but I will always defend his right to speak freely. And no 901 anons last paragraph makes. No sense to me either.

We all need to be there on April 5th to insure we get a proper representative of the Civic Club, not a sexist bigot who can careless about the rights of Women.

If you speak or write, you three are lying. Here are some of your statements:

Allan’s statement:
The next Civic Club meeting is April 5th. Don’t miss it! That’s where we pick our next President. I think I'm going to need you there for support. See you there.

Something with boats sounds good or a pool event. I hear there is also an idea out there for skate night at the pavillion. Low music levels!! If you come up with a fun event there are plenty of people that will help. I am looking forward to this years activities.

While on the issue of elections, there is also an important election taking place the same day at the fire station on HW146.
I am running for a director positionm on WCID 12. There are three vacancies and it is important that we elect directors whose best interests are those of the residents of the district. We need directors whop can push their priorities but also negotiate with others to accomplish objectives. With that in mind, the candidate Bill Kerber of Kemah comes to mind. The board badly needs some new blood; right now, it is too divided and can not work together. This election will hopefully improve that situation.
My agenda is to look for new sources of water;promote water conservation; build up our operating budget so that we have the necessary cash for emergencies we know will occur;support the budget for the district fire department.
This will require that we increase the water/sewer rates for residents, and increase the rates for heavy users. Most of you know water is getting more expensive and we must have the resourcesto plan ahead.
The fire department is funded by a $5 assessment fee on your water bill. It is not enough. The election will give you an opportunity to increase the assessment to a max of $10 on a need basis. The immediate need is for $2. So if passed, the fee will go from $5 to $7 when approved by WCID.

Adelia said...

I am fully behind the fee for our fire department increase. We get fantastic service and response time from our fire dept. Our fire fighters are volunteers and buy much of their own equipment. We should support them in any way we can. I urge all of us to review the history of the candidates running for water board and vote for the person you believe will best serve this community in a fair and honest manner. It is almost as important as our city council election in terms of how it will effect our community.

So glad I got to meet Nancy McDonald on Sunday. SHE has my vote.

Honestly, Bernie, how many votes do you think you will get from posting on this blog? You tried to get Allan fired for this blog. You have more nerve than anyone I know. Perhaps many more CLS residents will vote against you.

Wasn't it the WCID that you gain funds illegally? Wasn't that back in the day John Scott was also on the board of WCID? Perhaps someone can verify this since I am sure you will skew it in your favor once again.

Roselyn said...

I can highly recommend Ed Linck. A couple years ago he was Pres. of Kemah Historical Society and I was on the board and worked with him. He is smart, a businessman, and has no political agenda. He just cares about the community. He thinks for himself and he gets things done. I occasionally see he and his wife riding their bikes in CLS although they live waterfront in Kemah.

Bill Kerber spoke on Paul Shelley's behalf when the NS group was trying to lynch him, so Kerber has my vote, along with Nancy McDonald.

I will also be voting on the increase because Mr. Shiver asked us to at a recent council meeting!!

Anonymous said...

Glad you backed Bill Kerber, Rose. After reading Bernie backed him, my first thought was the poor guy just lost 95% of CLS votes. The anti NS group knows all too well what Bernie's word means.

When is junkyard Jackie's 60 days up? is Jack just going to let it slide again or give him another extension. by the way Council, I heard you voted at some point to let Pam's Houses rocks stay right on the edge of the street while everyone else had to move them back three feet and the ordinance says you can't have anything in the right of way. news flash, you can't just raise your hands and say let Pam's rocks stay and think that changes the ordinance. it doesn't change anything. the ordinance says you can't have anything in the right of way period. Most citizens who did place rocks in the right of way cooperated and moved them back three feet for safety and many other reasons. I hear Pam's friends on council thought she was above everyone else and should be able to do what she wants and Vern was scared because she is an attorney. this city need to grow a pair and follow our ordinances or change them instead of taking bs votes that mean nothing and let people like Pam do as she damn well pleases. I was told to move my rocks a whil back and did as it was a good compromise Why is she exempt?

Roselyn said...

Bernie, would you feel comfortable sitting next to Patrick Michaelski on the water board while his wife is suing you for harassment? Does your attorney approve of you running?

Anonymous said...

I agree with you 4:59. Not only are Pam House's rocks on the street they go into the neighbor's yard. Vern was a huge disappointment at that CC mtg. dealing with her. Anyone as a scheduled visitor is given 3 mins but she rambled on and on. Arlene is so easily manipulated by her "friends", too. So what if there are trees or mailboxes within 3 feet. Everyone needs to push their frickin rocks back. It is the ordinance - follow it.

Anonymous said...

I think the rocks are a hazard. I ride my bike all over the Island. if Pam lives on the south end of Narcissus her rock are definitely a hazard. why was she allowed to leave them there? someone needs to put it back on the agenda and get it straightened out.

Anonymous said...

The one question I had for Amanda on Sunday was would she persue cleaning up the ghetto of CLS - Tindle and Aspen. She is in favor of it and wants to find out what the city's expenses would be to take those to court that habitually do nothing to clean up.

I may be wrong, but I think part of giving Jackie another 60 days was a new council would be voting on taking him to court. I sure hope some of the realtors would be scheduled visitors at the new council's first mtg., especially the one that has the listing there. Send council a strong msg of how the ghetto depreciates home values, thus the community. Perhaps a powerpoint presentation? I viewed the beautiful green home for sale online and thought the photos were beautiful. One more showing the view at Jackie's would send a strong msg to Council. The residents there need to speak up too. Certainly they have seen the rats.

Bernie McIntyre said...

Ros If elected, I have no problem sitting next to anyone else who the electors choose. You might ask Pat if he would be uncomfortable sitting next to me, knowing what his wife is doing in her lawsuits.
Pat is not running for the position and my attorney, AND the WCID attorney have no problem with my running for the position.
For anon 4:09 , does that mean you do not want to place one of my signs in your yard ?
I have heard good things about Edf Linck also for WCID.
Anon 3:36 , I would be very interested in where you get your rumors; you give me the source of your rumor and I will be forever grateful.

Anonymous said...

I live nextt to Pam and Steve and was at the meeting. the rocks not only sit right at the road and cannot be seen at night creating a hazard, they cross over on to my right of way. Pam claimed at the meeting she was increasing all of our property values by having the rock s there??? I am not sure how it is a benefit to the community as it always looks trashy and they never weed eat around the rocks. since They refuse to weed eat around any of the rocks and Jack won't enforce the overgrown grass ordinance or what ever it is I had to put up a small trellis to hide the trashy property line between our houses. Pam's rocks were in the way and they refused to move them. Jack, Kenny, Paul and Vern all came over to look at the situation and agreed they should be moved off of my Side of the line. Paul then personally a moved the rock onto Pam's side of the line. as soon as we left Steve came out and pushed the rock back onto my side. jack had to return and set Steve straight. jean and Larry also have rocks right by the road and after council voted to let the rocks stay, Pam and Larry gave each other a high five

as Pam left. pure NS arrogance. They think rules don't apply to them and council that night sent them a message the reinforced their belief I hope when and if we get a real council this issue will be revisited and the ordinance enforced or changed. this nonsense of selective enforcement and phoney votes that mean nothing needs to change. I see no reason why Pam and Steve and Jean Nd Larry can't just cooperate like everyone else did. can anyone explain it to me
