IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Good Morning Clear Lake Shores

Officer Jansen has a white iPod in a purple case up at the police station. It’s looking for its owner. It is password protected so if you know of someone who has lost an iPod there ya have it. Thanks Officer Denise.

So, who put the “Red Tag” on the future bus stop? If you haven’t had a chance to stop and read it. It’s cute …
“RED TAG
WHAT IS THIS
THE STRUCTURE IS NOT CODE INFORCED
NO PLAN – NOT
ACCEPTABLE
CITIZENS OF CLS!”

We would like all islanders to know we will be having a voter’s registration drive on Saturday, March 3rd at the old Sandbar location from 10:00 – 3:00. We will be serving FREE hotdogs and soft drinks. Also, if you’ve noticed the black CLS bumper stickers on some of the island’s golf carts, we have ordered more, and will be made available FREE to those of you who register to vote, or to those who drop by and show a current voters ID card. If you’re a newbie, or just haven’t gotten around to registering, we would love to see you. If you’re pressed for time, we’ll make it REAL easy. You won’t even need to get out of your car. 2 minutes of your time, fill out a short form, and easy as that, and you’ll be a registered voter. We will take care of the rest. If jury duty has kept you from registering, I believe Galveston County uses voter’s registration OR drivers license for their jury pool.
Qualifications to Register:
You must register to vote in the county in which you reside.
You must be a citizen of the United States of America.
You must not be finally convicted of a felony, or if you are a felon, you must have completed all of your punishment, including any term of incarceration, parole, supervision, period of probation, or you must have received a pardon.
This is the important one! You must be at least 17 years and 10 months old to register, and you must be 18 years of age by Election Day. (Both of my sons will be eligible to vote in the May election)
Your voter registration will become effective 30 days after it is received or on your 18th birthday, whichever is later. Your registration must be effective on or before an election day in order to vote in that election. When you fill out a form, we will mail it for you. It can’t get easier than that.
Think of the number of people in the world that would give their right arm to have the privilege to vote. It is our right to vote, and the upcoming election in May makes it most important. If you can’t make it on the 3rd, our fine office staff at City Hall has plenty of registration forms on hand. So come on out, we will be their rain or shine. We hope to see you there.
This note from AB. Not to worry if your voter registration card has expired.”.. All previously-issued voter registration certificates expired on December 31, 2011, but only the cards expired, voter registrations remain valid. Voters, who are currently registered..”

Cool sign. I wish whoever did it would have polled us first before signing all of our names to it. I would have asked them to use "enforced" as opposed to "inforced".

Just saying...

This is what your kids showed up to this morning--HAMMERED with shingle nails to the kid's bus stop. Classy, Huh?

#1 - thanks for the color lesson
#2- they need to learn to spell "enforce"
#3 - the City is not required to adhere to the municipal code
#4 - the public works guys are working with Jack in ensure--(not insure) that it will meet windstorm standards.
#5 - This is considered Class C Criminal Mischief

When did it become "not acceptable" to make an attempt to keep our kids out of the rain while waiting on the bus?

WOW-WE. The Anon Button is back!! I guess you got tire of talking to yourselves. Allen, do you think you can handle the heat, or are you going to stick your head back up Paul's ??? and shut it down again?

Now to the good news, Patton Village is in handcuff's and they should now be able to turn their attention to our little crook'it-piece-of-heaven? I can't wait until I see that bunch down there marched out in handcuffs? Where we don't get saddled with the expense of their defense again, we need the City Council to pass a regulation that if you are found guilty of crimes against the City the monies can be taken directly from any retirement or monies owned to you by the City. The monies stolen from the City also need to be able to be recovered from those same monies. This needs to be done as soon as possible. Once they are arrested it will be to late.

I turned it on just for you. Actually it's been on for a while so I suppose I should say I'm glad you're back in town anon. I can't speak for anyone else but I love reading stupid shit like your post. I missed you.

Anon 557. I try to keep up but you have alot more information than I do apparantly. Paul never denied useing the credit card but says he paid it all back. The Frog, Sunshine, The Knife, Wrongway, Junk Yard and Tami " " Perkins have failed to show any monies are outstanding. It sounds like you have knowlege it has not been repaid and more individuals at City Hall are involved. How much is still unpaid and who else is involved? That will shut anon up for a while Allan. All you have to do is ask them for facts.

Anonymous said...

I haven't left lately but it got so boring I hadn't seen a reason to look at the Blog. I missed your wit also. To the future and what ever surprises it brings. I know Patton Village was surprised - The Mayor, Chief of Police, City Secretary, and even a past officer were arrested. What else is new but some City Council Members said they are innocent until proven guilty, haven't I heard that here a lot? Maybe the CPA won't be willing to cover up what is going on here knowing he may join the rest in handcuffs? Time will tell.

Anonymous said...

It is your City, too. Do your own homework. Paying back what was taken without permission is still theft under TX State Law. Those failing to report those thefts actually face greater charges than the one who stole. Time will tell.

Like I said they have no facts

Anonymous said...

Craig, aren't you the same one who said, "I don't care if they used the City Credit Cards for personal use". There is nothing anyone can explain to you. You are a prime example of what is wrong with our Country. Politicians with attitudes of "Do like I say but not as I do" and spending/giving way money to everyone but those paying taxes. The proof has already been presented and in some cases admitted too but for the likes of you that isn't even enough. I am not going to waste my time with the likes of you, the stupid liberal who can't even be considered ignorant for you know the facts. You condone and allow these Politicians to rape and abuse this Country. The evidence has been presented to others who have the power to come to Clear Lake Shores just like they did at Patton Village. The difference is they didn't have to get a warrant first to gather evidence prior to the arrest, the evidence was gathered for them. Don't you have a little bit of concern when they fought so hard to prevent an outside Audit and now only want a casual review by their CPA (?), when you know that all of them at City Hall have used the City Credit for their own personal use and never reported it until confronted. Our Chief Financial Officer and CPA never reported this to the Board. This has been going on for years and there is no justification for them to be in Office and not in jail.

To the above poster...do you mean like Bernie got approx 10K from his involvement with John Scott / Water District #12?
Remember "anon posts" will not remain so if harrassment / defame lawsuit are filed. What you wrote above is, in my opinion, another example of harrassment.

Anon 7:29. You should go to Patton Village. I think you will be happier there.

GOBAMA 2012!!!!

I only followed the advice of this Blog and it's writers. I wrote the AG, TX Rangers and Galveston DA's Offices, with one exception, I send exerts from this Blog, and other Web Sites that reflected possible abuse of Office, just like others on this Blog did. Harassment, you got to be joking me, that would be a Politician calling a Citizen stupid when the Politician whips out his City Credit Card to pay for gas to fill his RV while on vacation and the Citizen ask why don't you use your own credit card and the Politician laughs and says "that means I have to pay for the gas." Didn't Paul do that in CA?? Wow, now that is harassment!!!! The truth may send some people to jail and not set them free.

I love it here. Roselyn is my Hero for she is the one who motivated me to write the DA and Governor. Without her motivation I may have never become so active in trying to bring to light the abuses by our Politicians and their henchmen. "Go Roselyn"

You just figured out that the Anon option has been back on. You just said that you haven't been checking in because it's boring here.... now, you're sending "exerts" (whatever the hell that is) to some official entity.
You confused or sumpin'?
Let's see if we can figure out who you are.

I am all the Anons. I am Travis. I am your neighbor who doesn't want to be stalked or have my Mother/Children threaten. I'm tired of seeing our Country run in the ground and feeling helpless. I have a child in the pool when a drunk is drinking in the pool. I am tired of one set of rules for the citizen and another for the Politician. I am the last guy you would think of. I am a soldier and proud of my service and hate those who represent themselves as one. I am the one whose wife is afraid of losing friends if I speak up. I am all of the above and more. You can find me right where you are. We are the silent majority.

Anonymous said...

You are the misled. You are the hyper-dramatic. You are the creator of false scenarios. You are the one who's wife's friends aren't very sincere if your wife has to resort to intimidating you to keep your trap shut in order to keep those friends. You are the one who's wife knows you're an idiot and she's helping you to save face by trying to get you to shut the hell up. You are the one who lacks the cognitive resources necessary to see that you don't have facts to support your wild accusations. You are the one who is trying to make something out of nothing. You are not the silent majority you are a mouthy spineless twit that doesn't happen to like the people around you, and it's very likely that the people around you don't think to higly of you either. Credit card fiasco is over. Looking forward to asking you to justify some of your delusional concepts on meet the candidate night. You are running aren't you? Smart fella like you with all those opinions and ideas about how to run the "country". You know you can do it better than they did up in Patton Village.
Wait... your wife isn't going to let you run is she?

I am not a robot

"you are a mouthy spineless twit that doesn't happen to like the people around you, and it's very likely that the people around you don't think to higly of you either" I see you have such great insight because you are an ANON also.

"Credit card fiasco is over." Who do you get your information from ANON. I get my information because I filed a Complaint and continue to follow up. I can assure you it isn't over because of those who have committed the acts ordered it to be so. If that worked Patton Village's arrests wouldn't have happen either.

Get ready, they are coming with it. LOL

Bernie stole 12,000.00 from WCID 12 and was caught and made to pay it back is this the type of people you want running our city? He is on tape defacing lynda's home and you think this is an honorable man, he is clearly insane like Osama bin ladin and Hitler and Castro and and!

Anonymous said...

So you don't dispute - misled, hyper-dramatic or henpecked.

Soldier on my friend! Remember Patton Village!

Don't let their sacrifice be in vain!

(assuming it's ok with the missus)

Anonymous said...

This must have been before my time but I don't see where Bernie is running for Office, or has been involved in the charges brought against this Administration. So what does this, if it is even true, have to do with anything? Are you saying what this Administration and their friends have been charged with is Okay and meets with your approval because of some alleged past transgression by others? I didn't eat my peas but I don't think that allows me to justify the use of the City Credit Cards for their personal gain. Can't bring light to such a dark hole. You really are scared. I would be too, if I were in your shoes.

Anonymous said...

Read you 10:18 post slowly. Confusing isn't it? Eating your peas? Personal gain? Dark hole?

Imagine if you could only combine the "Pink" party with the "Dark Hole" party. You're both kooks.

When you run for council you can come up with a witty slogan. I doubt you will get many votes, but I'll wear your t-shirt.

File all the complaints you want to. You must have time to waste. All authorities are aware and are laughing at you!

Anon 10:04> Give it up. You aren't the big bad school ground bully anymore. You are just a piss-ant who now finds himself or herself (by the way which is it today) left out for you ate the crayons, stuffed the pencils in your ear and up your nose. To some the class clown, others the school yard bully and now just the ignorant fool who has nothing to offer to a conversation between adults. Go away little piss-ant, you never were funny and a only big in your own eyes.

Anonymous said...

That might be true in Galveston County just like it was in Montgomery County but then that wasn't who the arresting Agency was in Patton Village. Roselyn was right when she said take it to the Governor. They are more serious about these things in Austin. My hero, Roselyn. I couldn't have done it without you.

Anonymous said...

Of all the posts you have to respond to you pick that one?

What pissed you off? The comment about the missus or the lack of respect for Patton Village?

I'm betting it's pharmaceuticals that inspire your words of wisdom and wit.

Crayolas in ears? School bully? Eating peas? Have you been introduced to Barbara. I believe The Dark Hole party ticket is forming.

This is going to be the best Meet the Candidate night ever!

The bus stop was a nice idea -- but not very attractive in the execution. To my eyes, it looks a bit like an outhouse. The community complained about the plans for an electronic sign as not being appropriate for the city, but I'm not sure from the various postings what the consensus is about this new addition to our city.

Adelia said...

Fact: Lots of us have either been in the service or been married to someone in the service and I don't know anyone on the island that doesn't honor our troups. Have you seen our letter of thanks for the boxes we sent. Where were you when that happened?
Most of us agree that there should be a policy against using the credit cards and there is now. There was nothing in place before and if you are allowed to use a credit card it is not stealing.
Do you really believe our auditing firm would cover things up AND I RESENT YOU SUGGESTING ANYONE CALLED FOR A "CASUAL REVIEW". We have asked for our regular audit with emphasis on credit cards.
Drinking in the pool is not allowed by the life guards whether it is by drunks or children.
I am tired of hearing that I don't care if my city is corrupt - if we have problems make rules and correct them. No need to ruin lives and cause this much division. We are not missing monies, we have a new credit card policy in place and most of the noisy majority are against spending 20-35,000 THAT WE DON'T HAVE to investigate for something we already know. There is a personal vendetta and I am sure they would like to see many of the people in the island in jail. I don't want to pay the price anymore.

Anonymous said...

It shouldn't take a written policy for city employees to know that using a city credit card for personal purchases was unethical and not permitted. It is like saying using city funds for personal use, then paying them back (sometimes a few months later) requires a written policy for someone to know that it is wrong. It may or may not be illegal, but it shows a real lack of judgment.

Adelia said...

Ok it is probably unethical but it was permitted. If we are going to investigate items in the past how far back should we go? What is a $35,000 investigation going to do for me. Where is the benefit to the community?

Suzanne said...

Better than more rules we have the staff in place that we can trust. Paul, Vern and Karen are top notch. We are lucky to have them along with all the city employees. I hope we will have them for a long, long time.

Anonymous said...

No one allowed them to use the City Credit for their personal use. Further, the law is clear that if they used the City Credit Card for personal use it is a Crime. Since there has and for now will not be an outside Audit no one can be sure how much those Credit Cards were used and for how long it has been going on. Are we to trust the same people who used them to tell us I paid it all back? The same Chief Financial Officer who used them also and failed to report anyone's usage. The CPA is to be trusted when they allowed this to go on for years and never reported seeing receipts where the top leadership was spending thousands on personal items. I don't believe I care to trust anyone at City Hall or Associated with them. I too have send in a Complaint outlining my concerns with the misappropriation of City funds. It is time for an outside Agency to take a look at our City too. I was glad to see the work of an outside Agency at work in Patton for I believe our City has a more severe problem. To the bunch who support these criminal acts, you will be remembered and have to carry the same shame as those who are found guilty.
