IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Well the good news is Hurricane season is over. The bad news is we needed one to break this drought. Maybe next year.
Civic Club meeting is tonight. Come on out and visit with your neighbors. We’re decorating the tree too.

Make sure and mark next Tuesday on your calendar. It will the first City Council meeting we’ve had in a while. It could be fun. I’ll see you there.

Chill News from Laura at the Daily News. It’s still ugly to type.

Chill in: If Clear Lake Shores officials approve plans, look for work to begin in a few weeks on Chill, an eatery and full-service bar that owner Frank Tombrella describes as “romantic.”
Tombrella plans to open Chill on the lake in the 800 block of Aspen Road, behind his business Frank’s Custom Paint and Body Repair, 888 FM 2094.
Tombrella has partnered and invested in some well-known restaurant concepts, including Saltgrass Steak House, now owned by Landry’s Restaurants, Mason Jar and Lupe Tortilla, to name a few. Stay tuned.
GO Frank!!

Yet another headline about our little slice of paradise.

City: regarding "Chillin". Claudio is no longer with that group and the name doesn't sound very romantic. So PLEASE be sure they dont have loud rock and roll bands on the patio facing our homes. I may have to commit suicide if that happens. Thank you.

If it is anything like Mason Jar, Lupe Tortilla, or Salt Grass I am going to quit cooking and ride my golf cart there to eat EVERY NIGHT.

Whew! I just talked to the builder who is doing the build out on Chillin and he said absolutely no outside music.

I also just heard a rumor that we should all come Tuesday night. Nothing on the agenda that warrants a crowd but I hear something not on the agenda may be discussed. The grant discussion starts at 6:30 and probably wont last 30 minutes and the council meeting will immediately follow the grant discussion, so come at 6:30 instead of 7. See you there! (and that young reporter from Houston Press can come sit by me if you want!)

I think it is great news. Roselyn - I understand your concern about the potentail noise issue, but hopefully the current Noise Ordinance will keep the problem in check.

This new venture would likely have never happened without the completion and improvements to Aspen East. Kudos to City Administrator Paul Shelley for working through the grant issues and construction bid/award/implementation, and EDC President Ronnie Richards for keeping the dream alive. Also thanks to the City Engineers and Architects. Now let's get the lights and landscaping done!!!

Finally seeing some progress in the Town Center area can't keep me from wondering what could have already been had not the voters been lied to and deceived prior to the 2010 election. The empty parking that was once the Okie's site would likely have other cool establishments for all of us to visit. Sales tax rolls would also be increasing.

Hopefully our newly elected leaders in May will be more business oriented and pick up the pieces, get behind the EDC 100%, and push hard to turn the two piles of mud currently at our entrance into something we can all be proud of.

I wouldn't be surprised if the usual suspects came up with some ugly propaganda about this too. If you hear ANYTHING be sure to check your facts before voting against.
Thank you Bryan - who knows where we could have been if we had voted for the town center and not listened to the nonsense. Surely the investigation money we have spent now would have been put to better use.

As far as loud bands coming from Franks, I don't think that will be an issue. As matter of fact the problem may be reversed. I was talking to Frank the other day and he was showing me around. I told him about the bands in the park and he didn't know anything about that. We will have to work with him to figure out how to have jammin without afffecting his more sadate atmosphere.

I am ALMOST at a loss of words.

After the McIntyre's being on TV twice this week you would think they would be home feeling bad......no, Catherine is at City Hall today complaining that two months ago when the CL Shores judge heard the case about Bernie being ticketed for trashing Lynda's yard, he sent Bernie home and rescheduled their court date because Bernie was not appropriately dressed for court. She is then complaining that the staff at City Hall doesn't dress appropriately either (so why should Bernie have to when he goes to court?) I went to court a few weeks ago when Bernie was rescheduled and the judge sent about half of the audience away and said come back appropriately dressed for court. So does she think Bernie deserves special treatment? and if so, why?

Larry Toenjes was also at City Hall last week trying to retrieve some more of Jean Garst's open record requests and argued with the staff as well.

I dont know how those girls at City Hall can stomach all this.

Well, Jackie finally floated his large junk houseboat and moved it in front of his house. His neighbor tells me that Jackie now has 7 junk boats moored that dont move.

Working at the office in Clear Lake Shores and appearing before ANY judge are two different things. Judges have to listen to criminals spout nonsense all day long and deserve all the respect we can give them. They are in charge of keeping things in control in the courtroom and make tougher decisions than most of us ever have to. The girls in the office have to deal with us all day long and that is bad enough!! They do a wonderful job and I don't care if they wear a bikini to work.

Hey Everybody,

Don't forget about Holiday in the Park in League City. The parade is tonight and the carnival is all weekend. If you have never been to the parade you need to go it is a great parade and normally has between 100 to 150 floats. It starts at 6:30 but go early to get parked. If you go cheer real loud for the Best Buddies Float. Best Buddies is a non profit world wide organization that creates opportunities and lifelong friendships between those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those who do not changing all of their lives for the better. Best Buddies also provides social and fundraising events throughout the year. Cameron Ward is Clear Falls Chapter President and is supported by 25 student volunteers.

You can count on me
Don't need snow or mistletoe or presents under the tree
Christmas eve will find me
By my fire pit
