Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Happy Birthday

To Oklahoma. 1907 it became our 46th state. And speaking of Okie’s, This goes out to the Tulsa Hurricane, Big John I have your cooler. It’s at my place, under the house. All cleaned out and ready to be prepped for a return to Mancakes. Whenever you’re ready. And thanks for the Bloody Mary’s last Saturday morning. They really hit the spot.

Just when you thought things couldn’t/wouldn’t/shouldn’t go any lower…it seems at some point either during the City Council meeting or immediately after some steaming pile felt the need to slice up the Mayors golf cart cover. Nice move moron. If anyone saw anything please call Chief Cook. It could be your stuff next.
This from former Councilman Carrothers.  Pete, Thanks for your service to our Country and to our City.
My thoughts on what is important for the residents to consider when they vote for a council position would be;  what has that person done for the City prior to the election.   I would like to see a progression of responsibilities...say starting with work on one of the many committees.   Then stepping up to be a chairman of a committee; possibly Civic Club, or Farmers Market, or Pool or Roads, or Civic Club or  something.   I would give the nod to a person that started out in this fashion and then stepped up to the plate and sat on the P&Z or EDC where they would get exposed to having to publish agendas, subject to Open Records acts, etc..
I hate to use myself as an example; but I started out organizing a trash clean up on the shore line once a year, and then spent two years on the P&Z, and another two years on the EDC before serving four years on the Council.   Mike Bass headed up the Roads and Drainage and then the Finance Committee for several years before running for Council.  Al Burns has spent several years on EDC before running.   Richard Sowery spent several years on the P&Z, Susan Landwer had several years on the EDC before running.  I think you get the picture.
I suggest that this shows the individual has put some time in the trenches, has some skin in the game, shows dedication to making this Island a little better.   When someone just shows up at game time (and hasn't made any practice's) it hasn't worked.   I never saw Jackie or Tami even attend a council meeting before they ran; much less demonstrate any interest in anything but pursuing their own personal agenda(s)
All this being said,   I would take a look at some of the folks on the EDC or P&Z or Roads & Drainage committees to see if we could recruit one of those individuals to run next spring.  Anyway,  this is my thoughts and you are welcome to share with whoever might be interested.  Pete Carrothers

Thanks Pete, I agree. I think it is clear three of our council were recruited by NS and put in place to accomplish a single agenda. At least that is my opinion. Two of them have never served the city at all from my memory and hardly anybody had ever heard of Jackie prior to his leap into politics even though he has been here for years. There are others like Carlo who I would have complete faith in even though he hasn't served on a bunch of committies but the exceptions are rare. Thanks for your input.

Shame I was not here a year ago, he was my neighbour for 3 years on Aspen and I could have told you plenty! I cannot vote next year but would be happy to help with any campaigning for the right people to get them on CLS council. Sorry to hear about Vern's Golf cart cover, wanton destructive behaviour like this is the lowest. I just hope the person responsible for it is caught in the act next time!

Tami, Why do you hate the free garbage pickup?

Please! Stop the madness.

I hope Vern has alerted the Sheriff Dept. and DA that we are now to the destruction of property phase and that the NO ONE CAN BE FIRED memo was passed last night. Luckily the pinks, who were the ones really mad in the beginning and have calmed down now, are not destructing property. So who would be mad and destructing property? Bug jar or PD? Somebody is really mad things arent going their way. Any guesses which group?

to 1052,
We don't see your point. Please explain. Then explain your reasoning for associating any posters here with what very well may have been a random act of vandalism.
Then explain quantam physics and then explain why I can't get an Easy Bake Crystal Meth oven for Christmas. (I also want a post-traumatic stress GI Joe, but I'll wait for my birthday)

Maybe you should occupy some logic

Anonymous said...

Without all of the silliness, why is Tami trying to stop garbage pickup?

Anonymous said...

she's going to have us all put our garbage on Craig's curb.

tenta

Anonymous said...

No evidence that she is. Garbage collection paid for by the city was started by the city in the boom years. Before that, individuals paid for garbage pick-up. With sinking sales tax receipts -- ( and perhaps city funds that aren't available because they went for payoff of Town Center purchase loans -- and a minor loss of income from Okie's because it wasn't insured against IKE flood losses) and the high investigation expenses this year - there may be a budget shortfall that would require budget cuts.

Anonymous said...

CURBS? Tami wants curbs and she hates free garbage pickup?

when will it end Coubta?

Why won't the Isrealis help us.

to 1052,

The reeeediculous comments haven't just started; they've been around for since this started. It sounds like you might be the author of a few yourself. I'm 'desparate' for you to get a dictionary so that you can spell correctly and perhaps understand some of the other posts.

A minor loss from Okie's. Do the Metzgers have anything to do with the city administration or finance?

Why is that on your list?

Anonymous said...

1129 please don't confuse these idiots with hard questions

Anonymous said...

maybe 1129 meant the comment for the stupid people, not the idiots

stonf

Anonymous said...

Because the CITY under previous folks failed to properly insure a property for which they paid $450,000 (including $25,000 for the Okie's name) -- simply pointing out that there have been failures in fiscal responsibility that didn't start with Tami, et al. It is important to elect folks that keep an eye on the bottom line.

I'm sure you are right 1137...its ben fun but i have to drive into houston now to work....you are probably not familiar with work...much like two of our council members...maybe someone could explain it to you

Anonymous said...

We need to come up with some way to differentiate between the stupid people and the idiots. This has been going on for two days and it's downright confusing.

I suggest we color code them.

What color shall the stupid people be?

Anonymous said...

ok 1124 at 1130. I'll bite. The city didn't own the Okie's property at the time of hurricane Ike. Why did you include "flood loss" in your list?
Use little words, hell I'm still confused over whether I'm stupid people or idiot people.

Anonymous said...

The stupid people can be pink!

Anonymous said...

Nope. No can do. Taken.

The idiots are Pink.

Pick again.

I see we're all still ending our comments with a period. I guess no one agreed with me on that. Sorry, I was just trying to be practical

Vern, with the escalating violence at CC meetings maybe you should have Chief Cook assign an officer to protect the carts and cars out front

Craig

Anonymous said...

How about a citizen patrol?

Anonymous said...

I think CLS is a citizen patrol withou trying to be one. I make about 20 trips around the Island everyday working and the streets are filled with walkers and golf carts. I think it would be a good idea to have one officer in the clubhouse for CC meetings to keep an eye on Tami, Larry and Mary and one outside watching the parking lot. Denise and McMillan are usually there, they can just split up and cover both.

Better yet they can deputize Allan and I like they did with goober and gomer on Andy of Mayberry. Maybe even give us badges and hats.

Calling peoples work, threatening people, reporting people, harrasement, and destruction has been a tactic of ns for some time now. One day soon - maybe today they will mess with the wrong person - bite off more than they can chew and choke. Maybe they should be the ones afraid to speak anymore. Anon

Craig said...

They shouldn't be afraid to speak I don't think folks with opposing views would retaliate or I would hope not. Other than each other most of these folks have very few friends as far as I can tell, no life to speak of on this Island and look at Bernie, he is going to be chokeing big time in the near future with the 70 plus cases against him. Karma or God which ever you prefer will slowly have them pay their dues. Thats what I believe anyway. I guess Tami would choose God since she likes to quote scripture from her council chair and being the good christain she is. She even let her son go to church with us a couple of times. I guess she didn't have time to take him herself. Not judging, just sayin thats all

Your citizen patrol worked great Tuesday night. Just saying.

Anonymous said...

151: That comment sounded rather threatening so I guess, using your own logic, you're NS? There has been reprehensible behavior on both sides. Your comment included. There is no place for threats within the 'intelligent dialogue' that is supposedly happening in the comments section of this blog. Consider yourself one of the people that has given our community a black eye.

clearly 219 you do not process what you read very well. I didn't say I had a citizen patrol I said CLS just kind of has one without trying as we are all out and about alot. Furthermore if you read what I posted at 1255 about having our officers keep watch over the parking lot it is clear I realize that nobody can watch everything so the more help the better. Did you just wake up on the wrong side of the bed or are you bored what was your point and your name. For goodness sake Allan please turn off the buttons for nut jobs so we can have some productive conversation from folks who can actually comprehend what they are reading.

Yes 315 that is that writers opinion. Last time I checked folks had the right to voice their opinion. And no 302 isn't Craig for sure. I'm Craig and I would bet a months pay it isn't Allan. Neither of us hide behind the anon button

HEY ALLAN...HEY ALLAN, OVER HERE

Look at me I got on and didn't even have to ask Cameron or call Ryan.

Hopefully if Allan will leave that anon button off we can make some progress here. I know allot of folks quit posting because it got so ridiculous. It did and I am sure I stooped to their level at times but we need to start fresh. CLS in general needs everyone to start posting positive information so we can get past this mess. Don't get me wrong, I am not ready to be nice and forget what has happened and I know we have not turned a corner. NS has more in store and we have to stand together and do whatever we can to stop their BS. These folks don't care what the majority wants, they seem to be on an agenda to get what they want and don't seem to give a crap about the rest of us. Three of them have appeared to want to fight at council meetings and now Vern’s cart is vandalized. Enough is enough. We seem to be attacking each other at this point and that won't work. This blog and the pressure we have put on NS has severely damaged their plans and we need to keep it up. They can't stand that we are watching their every move and are whining about it at CC meetings. They are posting ridiculous comments that make no sense I guess because they don't know what else to do. They have worked under the radar for years saying anything it takes to get their candidates in office and it worked because they were not exposed. Well now they are and are being represented by three councilman that are nuts in my opinion. They are under investigation by the Galveston County DA I hear and Jackie has been in violation of our ordinances for years and arrested for not complying with them yet they are our leaders. I know I know, we have all heard this before but I am hoping that we can start today and get serious about fixing this problem without worrying about who spells correctly and who doesn't. If you read this blog tell your friends and neighbors to read it as well and post their positive thoughts. We need to keep an eye on NS and if we see they are up to something post it. This blog and the posts are what has broken NS,s plan. They have been successful getting some of their plans completed but that is because we didn't vote and let them take over. Now they are exposed so we need to put the nail in their political coffin. If we get the right folks in office we can fix or overturn allot of the things they are breaking so we need to keep the pressure on and find the right folks to replace at least Tami and Jackie. I am sure they will not run again because they have completed their mission of getting rid of the Shelly’s but who will they drag up next to run? If you know of someone they may be grooming post it and lets throw them in the bug jar. The bottom line is we need to quit fighting amongst each other and put this crap to rest in171 days or whatever it is now. With crappy turnouts at CC meetings we still outnumber NS five to one but would it kill those of you who have quit coming to take two hours twice a month out of your lives to show up at the meetings and lend your support. Now I’m getting bitchy. Sorry for rambling on. I am going to bed now.

Craig

If you can't figure out how to comment on the blog without the anon button, call me. If i can figure it out anyone can.

Sure is quiet here this morning without that ANON button isn't it?

Does anyone here read the Houston Press? You know the one, each major city has a newspaper like this that is mostly used to advertise dance clubs, stripper bars, tranny massage parlours and hookers. The Houston Press has a column/blog with multiple contributors that goes by the moniker Hair Balls. The column, which I happen to like, normally concerns itself with Big City politics or child pornographers or makes fun of Metro or other things that folks over in Harris County concern themselves with. Rarely would such a quiet community like ours be worthy of such a spotlight. But, it seems that Jean Garst has found somebody to listen to her whining about what's going on in our little city. She's is apparently accusing folks of drinking at council meetings! My word! I used to get popped in the back of the head for being a tattle tale, but apparently those days are over with all the hoopla about corporal punishment.
First question for Jean is - What exactly is in my cup when I'm at a council meeting? Are you making an assumption? You know what they say about assuming, "assume makes you a whiney assed tattle tale".

Second question - If someone is actually drinking their beverage of choice in a council meeting while minding their own business and it's basically acceptable and the word gets out, then don't you think every alcoholic and parrothead in Harris county is going to want to come live in our slice of paradise? Then think of all the new people and problems that you and your busybody friends will have to concern yourselves with. Think of yourselves first Jean!

Now, on another topic. I plan to write the Daily Tribune in Billings Montana and clue them into what is happening with Jackie's sunk boat. We need some outside involvement since the GDN doesn't really give a $hi^ anymore.

Here's a link to Jean's attempt at world fame. It's towards the bottom. After the Child Pornography and the Popcorn Fart article -

Paul,

The way I see it is that NS consists of the three on council along with their in my opinion handlers Jean, Kathy, Bernie and a few others who have seemingly created the issues we have been endureing the past sevral months. While as I see it, these folks are all in the bug jar , it also contains anybody who might be dreaming of climbing their political ladder or anybody who is alligned with them. I think whoever came up with that term was trying to say that anybody who might now or in the future cause us more grief that the majority of us do not want be put in a bug jar so we can keep an eye on them. At least that is how I see it. Am I right folks?
