Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

Happy 17th

Anniversary to Skippers! May you have as many more as you want!

The City Hall staff is coordinating a coat drive for the less fortunate children at Stewart Elementary.  There are a LOT of children at that school that do not have coats each year in this weather.  We need children’s’ sizes from XS to Large. They still have XL sizes from last year. The style we purchased last year was a lightweight coat (about $9.00) from Wal-Mart and then a set of knit gloves and hats for a dollar each.  We were able to purchase about 65 coat sets, with Wal-mart and Target donating some as well.  When we collect these coats, we take them directly to Barbara at Stewart and she coordinates with the counselor and teachers, so the coats are given to the needy children discretely.  We’d like to be able to take the coats to Stewart before they get out for Thanksgiving Break, which is on November 18th.  So, if you would like to donate a coat set or money for one, please contact us at City Hall.  Thank you.

Did anyone go to the workshop today or have you had you dose of crazy on Tues.? Plz post the results of the workshop. Can't wait to hear how it went. So sorry Vern, Al and Richard had to spend a Sat. wasting their time.

I don't care how much Paul makes. It is about time this community shows REAL support and give to their legal fees. After all, he will go after the people that hurt CLS. Go Paul - take em down.

As most of you probably know I have been highly disappointed with the actions of our City Council during the last 8 months. I did attend the Workshop today. A grand total of 5 residents of the island were at this very important meeting, and this makes me disappointed too. I am here to report that during the 3 and 1/2 hours of the meeting the mayor, council members, and City Secretary, Karen Mercile, worked through the issues in a most professional manner. As I reflect on how the meeting went, I am wondering why could this not have been the tact the council took from the get go on the issues that have so divided us. I was impressed with how the meeting was conducted and the general attitude of everyone wanting to work in a spirit of cooperation. I know feeling are still on edge, and I wish more of you would have attended this important meeting, but I am encouraged that maybe we have turned the corner, and can soon put these matters behind us. Thanksgiving is right around the corner so let's try to put a spirt of thankfulness in our hearts fie being lucky enough to be able to live in this "Little Slice of Paradise". One way to do this would be to show up on Friday and/or Saturday at the Club House and help put our Island Thanksgiving Dinner toghther to make it a success.

Allen, that is great news. My Joe attended and he said it was you, Jim Mago, Cathy McIntyre and Jean Garst in the audience.

So glad things went well and problems were solved that we taxpayers didnt know we had.

Now that all of that is sorted out and the city can begin to mend, did they say how they intend to restore the Shelleys' reputation or will that require another workshop/closed executive session?

Allen C. ... thanx for going and the report. I have other priorities this weekend, and I appreciate your Civic Spirit. I hope you are right about "turning the corner."

Good morning! Does anyone know what the fireworks at 10 pm last night were about? Did I miss the 4th of July by setting my clock back too far? They were beautiful and loud :-)(sorry Roselyn) Bettie

yep we are turning the corner......the three stooges set out to get rid of tina ge rid of paul and make a few officers happy who may or may not be here 5 years from now....the acomlished there goal and wasted 59,000 plus in doing so....Allen C thinks we should all move on and he seems to think it is over it will not be over and we wont have turned the corner until the day after the next election. i think we are turning a corner because the bug jar gang knows they cannot hide anymore and they will try to put on a good face over the next 180 days or whatever it is and try to keep in power...in my 12 years here and over this past few months especially I have learned to never trust any of them.

not ready to play nice yet

I would have attended, however, I'm still out of town. Thanks Allen C for being there for us! I'm hoping that we can all come together and be thankful for our "little slice of paradise" and for having another election in 188 days.

Bettie, that was us celebrating with the fireworks last night. Someone told Katherine and the police department that Katherine lost the election and is no longer mayor.

Thank you Allen C. for taking the time Sat. to attend the workshop. I appreciate your general report, but would you mind being more specific? Does the Chief report to Council?

Wow, Council acted in a professional manner! That has not been witnessed since last May.

What factors went into Council acting that way? Maybe the Mayor's visit with the DA and a criminal investigator? Maybe the residents raising legal funds for the Shelleys? Hmm...

So sad they had to have their backs to the wall - but whatever it takes we WILL DO.

Apparently Tami must have it good with the PD reporting to her since she does not obey traffic laws in CLS.Had the displeasure of coming up at intersection of Birch and CL Rd and she did not stop at her stop sign, did not signal, did not wait her turn but took off into the intersection, no turn signal at 2094, sped on 2094 and again no signal when turning. Petty? Yes, but just pointing out yet again how she seems to think she is above the law and does things her own way. I guess she wouldn't get a ticket anyway since they report to her?

Anonymous said...

Can anyone explain why Tami was riding around CLS in a cruiser about 3:30pm on Saturday? Was that part of the workshop? She certainly looked like she was having a great time!

Anonymous said...

Is a cruiser a police patrol car? and if so, which officer was driving?

Anonymous said...

Lynda vs. Bernie (small trial) is 2 PM today at our court. I understand the judge will see 7 video's of Bernie dumping trash in Lynda's yard.

With friends and neighbors like the bug yard group, who needs enemies?

Anonymous said...

they were probably doing victory laps over what ever happened at the workshop

Anonymous said...

Everybody needs to call Kenny today 281-334-2799 and make him explain why tami was in a pd vehicle moments ater the workshop........

Anonymous said...

If a cruiser is a police car, Denise comes to work at 3 PM on Saturdays so I would be curious to know if she was driving Tami around and if that is true.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of the bug jar group, Kemah voted unanimously last week to terminate its contract with Jack Fryday....

Anonymous said...

I am this close to a NO CONFIDENCE petition for the police department.

Kenny should be firing people unless he is right in the middle of it.

I also noticed Denise didn't leave the island until 12:30 AM on Saturday and her shift ends at 11. Whats with that?

Anonymous said...

Yes, she was in a police cruiser. I couldn't tell who was driving but it was a man. She was smiling, and laughing. Looking very proud of herself.

Anonymous said...

Jack Fryday is the one person strong enough to enforce the Jackie's Junkyard problem, so leave Jack alone. We have important busines HERE to take care of. Kemah can solve their own problems.

Anonymous said...

So Vern, please tell us who was on patrol Saturday afternoon. Inquiring minds want to know.

Anonymous said...

A unanimous vote against someone in the same position in CLS is something to note...especially given the issues at hand with the junkyards and the Town Center project.

Anonymous said...

jack fryday is the one that was so weak he has let the mess over there go on for over a year......you dont have to be strong to enforce the rules you just have to do it........why has he bee pissing around all of this time?

Anonymous said...

a year my ass the boats have been there since ike at least jack hasn't done anything about it.......there is a reason kemah is getting rid of him

Anonymous said...

Take a look at the area between Aspen and Tindal and ask yourself how any inspector could allow this to go on.... Kemah voted unanimously to terminate its contract with Fryday. How many days does Jackie have left on this latest notice? Anyone who doesn't think we are dealing with true junkyards should go and take a look...

Anonymous said...

Perhaps someone could post a photo on here of Jackie's Junkyard?

Anonymous said...

Good idea...juxtaposed against the Town Center plans.

Anonymous said...

I just saw the Parks & Wildlife truck go down Aspen, so hopefully they are taking a look as well. Doesn't look like anything has been done with the boat(s) on Aspen. Nov. 19th is deadline. We will see then how Jack handles situation. After that, then anyone who has a problem with his junkie property on Tindel can file a complaint with the city and it will be examined

Roselyn said...

Pinks: Be aware that Jackie and group would probably be thrilled if Jack was gone from here so Jack can't enforce fine or put Jackie on the agenda for non compliance. So be VERY wary of any posts against Jack at this time.

Jack was let go because he worked under the controversial Matt Wiggins and no other reason.

Kemah has a similar situation with old people trying to run the city behind the scenes, so dont take things at face value in Kemah. There is a similar civil suit looming there also, so lets just focus on our problem here, and let them take care of their own.

I did not know until recently with my remodeling Dogwood and then complaining about Jackie's boat on Aspen, that when the building inspector gets a complaint he HAS to act on it.......So, if you have a problem with Jackie or anybody's junk, just shoot Jack Fryday an email or letter and he will HAVE TO look into it. He responded to all 17of us that complained about the boat that he and Jackie agreed on 30 days.

Parts of Aspen and Tindel and the canal have been an eyesore long before Jack Fryday was here. He did tell me the other day though that when he starts enforcing it on one house that he will have to enforce it on all of them.

So, Jackie's neighbors will have something to thank Jackie for if anyone complains about Jackie cleaning up his property. Then they will all have to. That's what the rub was 2 years ago when he was arrested. All of them got notices to clean up and Jackie ignored the summons so he was arrested. Since taking down Paul was part of his political platform to get elected, I am sure the City has probably looked the other way just because he is a council person.

I have been out of town all weekend and am just catching up. Let me see if I have this right. At the workshop they agreed the Police Dept would report to the Mayor. That sounds OK to me but I would like to know how that is different from reporting to Council. Tami was breaking several traffic laws. No comment, i'm afraid I do that from time to time myself, After the workshop Tami was riding around in a cop car. I would like an explanation for that one. Now Jack Frydays name is popping up on the blog! Its about time. I have received three letters from Jack in the past year. The first letter was demanding I drain my pool that has been there for 16 years within 12 hours because I did not have a fence around it. It is above ground and does not require a fence. I tried 4 times over the phone to explain that to Jack but he kept hanging up on me. Finally he read the half page ordinance and figured out his mistake. Or was it a mistake? This letter was written within 24 hours of a varience committie meeting where I pointed out it was his fault Dava McMillans house was red tagged because he approved a plan that was in clear violation of our ordinances. He even admittted it was his fault at the beginning of the meeting. The second letter was demanding I shut down my business within 30 days based on a phone message from Dava McMillan requesting that he check my business permits. This letter came within three weeks of Davas request. The other day I received a letter demanding I repair my pier within 15 days or else he would...Hell I don't know what he will do. He didn't even bother to tell me which pier or what needs fixing. I have 15 days to fix an unspecified problem with my pier but Jackie has ignored letters for years, got arrested for failing to appear for a violation but now years later nothing has changed and he hasn't paid one fine. What the hell is going on Jack. The first letter was sent within 24 hours of a comment I made against him and the second letter was sent within three weeks of a nonsense complaint but the junkyards have been there long before he even went to work for us and they still there. The first two letters clearly seem to me to be an abuse of his power and nothing more than harrassment as both carried no weight and were based on problems with the same lady. Thats my opinion anyway. Can anyone give me a better explanation?

Allen C seems to think everything is getting better and wants everyone to be nice. Allen you are dead wrong. Tami is now dressing appropriately at meetings, Jackie and Tami are no longer slouching in their chairs and they allegedly were profesional at ONE workshop. These things are happening because everything they do gets put on the blog, we have cameras at the cc meetings and we have applied and kept pressure on these folks for a while now. I think the Bug Jar Gang, NS or whatever you want to call them see they have to change their plan of attack because their underground network is now exposed. At the last cc meeting everyone of them was bitching about th blog. They can't stand us knowing what they are up to. Allen they might be turning a corner but it is not to the high road. This ain't over as AB would say and in reality it might be getting worse. We need to keep preasure on the wound and keep an eye on it untill it is completely healed. We can't risk more infection.

Roselyn said...

Craig, you made my case for me. Your neighbors keep complaining about you at city hall and Jack has to follow up. Your neighbors know how the game is played because they have good teachers.

None of Jackie's neighbors complain. Well, maybe one did two years ago when we had a different building inspector, and you see the outcome of that.

And just for the record, I called Jack for an occupany permit last week for my house that was raised and brought to code on his demand on Dogwood. He gave me 24 citations. We fixed them, called him to come back today and he failed it again because the burner on the gas stove would not light.........So dont think I am sticking up for Jack because he has done us any favors.......Joe said he missed the days before Jack where he could do whatever he wanted.

Maybe Jack is being used as a scapegoat in Kemah. Its a shame.

I am much more interested though in whats up in the police department than the building department.

Anonymous said...

Roselyn,

I now you are a longtime friend of Jacks and respect your feelings about him but I did not make your case. The letter about my pool was not a complaint from a neighbor. He took it upon himself to write that letter within 24 hours of me pointing out his error on Davas house. Even if it was a complaint, how can he demand I have to drain my pool when I am in violation of nothing? Same thing with the second letter. He demanded I shut down my business when I was not in violation of any ordinance. The second letter was in respons to a BS complaint but all he had to do was explain to Dava I was not in violation and no letters could be sent. In both situations he choose to send demands based on nothing and were completely unenforceable wasteing my time. I am friends with three building inspectors and all agree 100% he was out of line. I don't know about this third letter yet and assume other leaseholders are getting them too but how can he demand I fix a problem he does not specify and why do I only have 15 days to fix this alleged problem? Jackie recieved letters from the City I assume and got arrested for ignoring them from what I understand but nothing has changed over there in years. Which point of yours did I make? I am on your team but definately not on this issue. I hope you can respect my situation and why I Think Jack needs to go. I do not think Jack is our only hope to get Jackies problem resolved. Jack is the one who hasn't gotten it taken care of for years now. The problem is obvious, letters have been sent, arrests have been made yet the problem still exists. Roselyn, if you can explain to me why this hasn't been taken care of please let me know. I'm am confused.

Craig

Roselyn said...

Maybe, I dont know, someone at City Hall asked Jack to not push on Jackie. Jack does not work independant of City Hall. He is an employee who does what his boss in Kemah and his boss in CLS tell him to do. You can put this puzzle together Craig, you are just used to blaming him instead of maybe looking around the telephone pole outside to see who is taking photos of you. Just say'n.

Anon 206,

I think the problem is you have ONLY lived here for two years. I have lived here for nearly 25 years and can assure you this is not the norm. Those of us going on and on and on are doing it because we love it here and will fight to the end to protect what we have. There are a handful of hateful folks that are causeing alot of problems for alot of citizens and it sucks. One of their leaders recieved I think 3 months probation and a fine today for just one count against him. From what I understand there are 50 or more charges still pending against him. I am not sure your post is real but if you truely don't get it and would rather be in Houston you can take either 225, 146 or 45. They will all lead you back to nirvana. If you don't like what you see on the blog and don't want to be involved don't read it. Yes anon, this is going to go on and on and on and on until we take our Island back and get these sorry folks out of control. If you feel you must return to Houston, I am sure you will find more than enough folks willing to help you move. Not to be mean but because that is what we do here, we help each other. I think I will sign my name this time as usual.

Craig, thank you. I have lived here 2 years and visited friends who live here for many years. The first time I was here was to come to the turkey feast. That made me to decide that one day I had to move to Clear Lake Shores. I hear that some people are not talking to other people and they won't go to turkey day. That is so crazy and I cannot convince them that the civic club dinner has ZERO to do with the crazyness going on now. That is why I felt like leaving the place I grew to love. Hate and meaness is the standard now it seems. It makes me and my family really sad. I like Cheif Shelley and Tina very much and they have always been so kind they are one of the reasons I moved here. Hope the turnout is great on Saturday.

The hate and meanness that anon 6:12 speaks of is, unfortunately, too true. But that's why we are fighting back! We don't want this for our island! And if the NS Gang ( bug jar group, whatever you want to call them) stays in power than we will continue to be ruled by hate and meanness. And if the good people who are not mean and hateful decide to leave and move away, than they are letting meanness and hate triumph. There is nothing wrong with fighting for justice and truth and for what you believe in. Problems don't get resolved by giving up on them and hoping they'll just go away but by standing together and facing them head on. That's all we are trying to do here, even though some people get more emotional than others, but it's because we feel backed up into a corner, often helpless to stop the hate and meanness. We are just trying to present a united front because that is the only thing that can stop their hate and bitterness from ruling over us.

Does anyone know how much Bernie was fined? ONLY 3 months probabtion? That's not right.

Anonymous said...

Bernie or the judge decided against the jury trial (the odds of getting an impartial jury from our community might be slim..ya think?)

Bernie decided to plea 'No Contest'. The judge (who had the 7video tapes of trash dumping) gave him 3 months probation and $100 fine. If he is caught dumping trash in her yard again, it is automatic guilty.

I wonder on Dec. 8 when the big trial with 70 different counts begins if the jury will know he is on probation for screwing with her?

Whats wrong with these mean people? Why aren't they enjoying retirement instead of screwing with Lynda and the Shelley's? Somebody needs to call their kids to come get them before they lose the inheritance in law suits.

Anonymous said...

this first trial is like littering. No biggie. The December one will be interesting. I understand there might be a major TV network covering that one.

We need to set up a Civic Club event to watch the tapes of the senile curmudgeon throwing the trash over the fence. That would be a HUGE fund raiser.

I don't know if anan 1058 is jokeing but they are right it would be a huge fundraiser. I think if Lynda and the law would allow it we should do it as a movie night fundraiser for Pauls legal fund. I bet you could get $20.00 a ticket and it would be great fun especially if we put it to music

Craig, maybe the movie should also be shown at the local schools to open up serious conversation with kids about bullying. You know Catherine McIntyre just published an article in GDNs last week as a guest writer about how serious bullying her friends on council has become, "like third graders". On second thought, the kids might be confused when they figure out she is married to the biggest bully of all.

Anonymous said...

I have lived on the Island for 15 years, and the McIntyres have always been the biggest hypocrites of all. I agree with you that it is amazing that she would publish that article regarding bullying when her husband is being charged with harrassment of a neighbor. Classic.
