IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

TGIF

The bad news is looks like we can't even get a tropical storm. Friggin' Scotland can get one but we can't. The good news is Clear Lake Road is open!!

Y'all have a great weekend and we'll see you at the benefit. To Kathryn and Bernie McIntyre, Happy Anniversary and congratulations.
To anyone considering posting something ugly using anon. Think twice. Then don't do it. I will delete any ugly posts.

See you at sunset!!

Tribes-

Well, CLS may now be in a state of change.  Congress got dysfunctional and now has a 12 % approval rating.  If CLS Council had a satisfaction survey today, approval would be very low.  I know six tribes can unite against one.  We might be at a tipping point in CLS.  I’ll bet those in power in CLS right now think they are winning – they have been for a long time.  One gets complacent – just like maybe the Chief did. One important issue is that the coalition in power now is not ONE tribe – it is at least two plus a pawn to be used at ill which makes THREE sometimes.  How to break that power?  Simple – get rid of one player.  That will happen next May, I believe.  But, that is a temporary fix without understanding the Tribes of CLS.  I think the bottom may be about to fall out of CLS, but maybe we can engineer real change here.

The North Shore coalition picked the wrong fight and rocked the boat too hard.  The boat is beginning to spin out of control. Of course, a hurricane or a complete turnaround in the market may blunt that.  We would be oblivious in our misery with a hurricane or ecstatic being richer in a better economy.  Craig would have too many lawns to mow and Roselyn too many houses to sell to pay attention.  And we citizens would all become even more complacent.  And then we leave it to the control freaks to take over – from whatever tribe is organized with the best looking control freak.  But, if what is in the news remains Bernie, Tamie, Jackie, retaliation, wasting tax payer’s money, no movement on city projects, dysfunctional government – think change.  Educate the population on real balance in government – think real lasting change, at least for a generation.  May be it is the CLS Dawn.  But let’s not let it swing all the way the other way and get a gate and guard on Clear Lake Rd. and a high rise where Al and Tommy used to live – or, God forgive, in Sundial Park.  Balance.

"A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from a simpler system that worked just fine."

Wondering what would happen if Jackie lived by Tami; Real violations of ordianances going on for years. Would she attack him like she is attacking Craig? Wondering who she will go after next.

I think she is going to stay on Paul and Vern for a while. Remember the employment contract council made with him is that they can fire him from CA "for cause". At meeting Tuesday night she asked him what we use the Target and Home Depot credit card for. He explained maintenance and office supplies. I wouldn't be surprised if she starts digging through that to find a way he might have wasted 10 cents so she can fire him. Remember, this was her original mission so that someone from North Shore could have the CA job and mission is not yet complete. I know another neighbor from her past that said she is evil, smart and does not give up until she gets what she wants.

I also believe they purposely didn't run anyone against Vern in the last election so they could make him look back this time and then Catherine or Tami could run next time for Mayor. ...This group does long term planning just like is done on a national level.

I think also they will be after Jack and Karen in their spare time. Those two can think on their own so they dont fit into the bigger North Shore picture.

Ok, Craig, Bettie, and anybody who can help. We moved the nice family from Michigan with their 3 kids into the house in Bacliff. They need to BORROW a couple of mattresses for the floor for a month. Within a month they will get a UHaul and drive their belongings from storage in Michigan to here. I have table and chairs and they have towels and sheets. So if anyone has a blow up mattress or any top mattress they could lay on the floor (new floor by the way, not dirty), let me know and I will come pick up with my truck. Kids are 5, 6 and 9 and could sleep on one mattress. 281-334-2973 Roselyn

A really big thank you to all involved in the pavement project. The new bridge approach and turn lane are great and with some cool landscaping I will be thrilled. If no one wants to claim responsiblity let's just blame George Bush.
Thanks Vern, Paul and EDC et al.

Love good, huh V
Captain Mike? Weill, it a start. It would have been much farther along had not a pathetic group of selfish residents banded together and sued the city for trying to make progress, and also started a drive to abolish the EDC for actually spending money on Economic Developemnt!! Imagine that happening!! We lost so much leadership and intelligence when Bass moved, but thank god we still have folks like Ronnie Richards who have vision and determination to keep the Town Center project moving.

And has anyone noticed how quiet Kathy has managed to keep Bernie ever since they got sued by their neighbor? Interesting.

Good luck on your fundraiser today. I dropped my donation off already. I would come to your party today but we are having a party at North Shore at the same time 4 to 7 to select candidates for the next election and to encourage our current ones to "hang tight".

Have fun at the Political Summit this afternoon at the Annex. You better hope they hand out No-Doze at the door. Come by the pavilion after the quilting ends and the last bingo ball has been called. We should still be partying.

I do wonder if Tambra will sing a little ditty like she did at post-Election party and if Fuller will keep time on the spoons.

Sounds like a hoot.

Travis- I am sure your donation to the Breseman family is very appreciated. Please do not mix politics with this event. It is very disrectful to this family that is in need of the support of the entire community.

Roselyn, I do not have mattresses, but have towels, dishes, sheets and other household items I would happy to donate. Bettie

Bettie, will you put them on your front porch in a box and I will swing by around noon and pick up. Just a few things to get them through a month is what they need. Thank you so much and they are a wonderful little family who are appreciative. Craig had a blow up mattress, then I got table and chairs and an egg crate foam which will do until I can locate another mattress or will just buy one. They should be good to go now. Thank you.

Thanks for you donation Travis. Have fun at the Party this afternoon. And let your friends know they have motivated me. Encourage them strongly to hang together through this tempest. Hell, they can even hold hands on their way out the door next May. This ain't over.

I have to say I will miss some of the stuff for the silent auction today. All of these wonderful items have been sitting in my house for days and I have become quite fond of some of them. Look out I will be bidding. There is lots of beautiful jewelry and some really special historical items relating to the island. Even if you don't want to bid, come take a look at some Clear Lake Shores history like lights from the Sand Bar, Photo by John Scott, and items from wood recycled after IKE.
See you there. Bring your hungry belly and your check book!! Dont forget to sign up for the duck race!! GO TEXANS!!!

Yes Bettie, I will stop by tomorrow. Thanks a million!

North Shore intentionally planned a political get together at the same time as the benifit and they are bragging about it!!!!! Does that tell anybody anything about these self centered mean spirited individuals.

Anonymous said...

they don't want to be part of the community they just want to rule it. They care only about themselves. I can't wait to see who they drag up to run

The McIntyre's planned a party and gave out invitations (to celebrate their 50th year of marriage) prior to any discussion on this blog of the benefit. It is not a political party -- they, like most of us on the island, have friends who do not agree with them on island or national politics, but still wish them happiness. I assume that Allan's best wishes in his blog were sincere -- even though he certainly doesn't agree with them and has been mighty angry with some of their tactics.

I wonder if Richard Sowery was invited. They backed him when he ran but He has proven to be a very common sense councilmanh and always votes the right way which is voting against Tammie, Jerkie and Arlene. I guess he may have been kicked out of the club.

Roselyn, I will call you in morning..after I get the stuff together.. and I can bring it to you if you like. No worries. Probably will call you close to 10 am. Bettie (I am heading up to benefit..just got back home)

Alan ... thanx for smoking the meat ... it was incredibly delicious. I am proud to say I donated beef and chicken, and then ate goobs of both. You are the best, neighbor.

By the way, took a cart ride around the Island, and saw the Bug Jar / Cavemen Party ... how sad is that. I know they would have been welcomed as contributers to the Family Benefit, and politics would not have reared it's ugly head. But they felt they had to have thier own little exclusive party, contributing to no-one and nothing. How sad ...

BTW, Santana was AWESOME, Dude!

Travis is the one that posted it was a political party to pick who will run. Even their own members can't figure out what is going on.

Anonymous said...

The "Travis" who posted was making up what he said about the party being political -- perhaps you can figure out who would have a motive for doing that.

As Adelia reported (September 6 - 9:50am), Kathy contributed to the benefit. Many others who would generally be considered "bug jar" folks also supported the benefit. Some probably didn't attend the benefit because they had been invited and agreed to attend the McIntyre's party PRIOR to the benefit being announced.

What a wonderful party and fundraiser! Thanks to all you "salt of the earth" good people who organized and pulled this off! Especially Allan because I heard he lost one of his best friends this week and the wake was today during our party. You are priceless Allan!

Roselyn, just left you msg. Stuff for the family ready. I can drop off - or, just call me if you are heading this way. Hugs Bettie
Great party yesterday! Allan did great job as chef :-)

looks like one of the nurseing homes had a party on Northshore yesterday. Must have been a wild one when we went by in our boat we saw officer Jansen trying to get it under control. it was really small though I thought if you lived that long you would have lots of friends stop by

Wow...is all I can say! "Travis" you have some real "hate" for CLS! So I have to wonder....why are you here? It is not our place in society to change other people. The only person you can "change is yourself." ....Just have to ask....Do you lay awake at night and contemplate ways to disrupt those around you? Find some peace!
