IslandDrumz

Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

I really don't like Tuesdays

Well hurricane Lee was a wash. Pun intended. At least for us. Not all is lost though, there is a developing area in the southern Gulf and TD 14 is spinning up waaaaay out there.

Anybody out there up for making some potato salad for this weekend? Our efforts are really starting to line up. We have a ton of stuff for the silent auction and the donations have been excellent! Folks, we are gonna have a ball! Make sure you invite some off island friends to come out and play, we don't want to Bogart all the fun.

Craig, keep us posted on the goings on over there on Narcissus. We feel your pain brother. I've having a hard time figuring out why there is not some middle ground there somewhere. Maybe it's just me.

Tribes- (only one more)

But I do have an important call to the citizens of CLS – always balance the tribes of CLS on City Council.  Yes, pay attention to the person running.  Try to determine if they are a control freak or crazy.  You will be wrong half of the time; maybe, most of the time.  Control freaks can be the sweetest of people when they need something from you – like your vote.  And, remember, control freaks have been hounded off the island; it didn’t change much – we are still in the 20 year war.   The only difference is the pendulum swung; the war goes on.
Always pay attention to the tribe you are voting into office and who represents what tribe of those remaining on council when you vote.  Remember, that we always need a 2-2-1 split on Council.  If we CLS citizens weren’t weird or controlling or otherwise dysfunctional, we wouldn’t live in CLS.  We would be in South Shore Harbour.  And our politicians are the extreme of us.  They are the liqueur of the citizenry, so to speak.  Balancing the crazies is the most important task we have as citizens of CLS.  Running the bums out only swings the pendulum and the war continues.  Balance!

A Direct Quote from Larry, the cable guy:
"I have noticed a large number of bad jokes implying that Cajuns aren't smart.  I would like to state for the record that I disagree with that assessment.  Anybody who would build a city 5 feet below sea level in a hurricane zone and fill it with Democrats is a genius".

Craig did a great job correcting Tami tonight. There weren't 50 bags of trash ever, nor were there numerous cars or trucks parking on other peoples property. Yet, she was rambling like she knew other wise. She kept insisting on common sense. Let's start with FACTS. Where does she get her information?

I liked, too, how (after presenting her dipolma) Vern asked if she had any CITY related comments.

Trying to find pages, or follow along should have been caught on film for the incompetent file on Tami. She just can't get it together.

She is easliy the most incompetent Council person we have ever had. She couldn't even follow along during the budget "debate" even after Karen would direct her exactly to the page and line item they were discussing. Some prep time before the meetimng would be a little helpful, Tambra! Printing out the package and reviewing ahead of time is acceptable you know, even if you have been instructed otherwise. The other REALLY embarassing thing is that Jackie will now represent the city as our representative to the HGAC. We are certainly putting forth one of our model citizens there. Nice work, Council.

RESIGN your dragging this city down!

Did Tami really blame Bragg for there not being a new budget when she took them off course of (doing city business) to investigate the best man this island has ever known?

She can't resign because Kathryn won't let her!

I was amazed last night when the mayor and police chief were trying to explain to Tami that you cant apply law to only one person on the island without applying it to everyone. She said but I don't care about the others I just want it applied to this one person - the one I am having a problem with. Wow Craig that sounds pretty personal to me!

I want to thank our unscheduled visitor last night Carlo. For those of you who weren't there, where you should have been, Carlo stood up and pointed out that some on Council felt thy were on trial when asked hard questions by the citizens. He expressed that many of us are not happy with the way things are going and we deserved answers form council when we have questions about their decisions and actions. He went on to say that he should not have to go home feeling guilty about hurting a councilmans feelings after asking a question at a meeting. Carlo was articulate, calm, his comment was well thought out and it was to the point. Nearly everyone applauded his comments except the four or five Tami supporters who sat stone faced and looked pissed. How cold anyone disagree that Council should answer citizens questions? Carlo needs to be sitting up front faceing the citizens a few months from now. How many more days until the election Alan? Thank you Carlo

It was nauseating and citizens looked at each other again in disbelief when Tami was explaining that its OK to have a phone, fax and computer in your home and operate a business but its not OK when you put out 60 bags of trash, walk on your neighbors yard, have vehicles in your yard with business name on them. She was really pushing to put a limit on P&Z getting the issue back to council so she can vote to put Craig out of business before her term is over. On a brighter note she is now quoting Spanish instead of the Bible.

If you had told me after the 2010 election that Tambra would end up making Jackie look like a rocket scientist I would not have believed you.

Adelia,

Tami said it outloud that she doesn't care about any other business she is just concerned about mine because she lives by me. I thought our representatives were supposed to be concerned about all citizens but as we have all known from day one she apparantly only cares about her own agendas and those she is instructed to care about. She also said under her breath and out of turn that this shouldn't be personal. Tami, that is exactly what you and your gang have made it. Can you not hear yourself talk. My God, does anyone on this Island have a psycology degree that can explain what we are dealing with here. You can analyze me too. Maybe I'm the one who is crazy.

i was there last night and it was a mess tami rambled on making no sense jackie didn't contribute anything as usual and arlene almost wet herself because she was so excited that she had found a mistake on a document that said harris county instead of galveston county............good job as usual council

Carlo for King! King Carlo. (Isn't there one already, Spain or somewhere?) His speech was brilliant.

There were only 35 people there last night (6 bugs, rest flamingos). Needs to be more. Was obvious to me that Tami is 'chomping at the bit' (Miss Hillbilly) to put Craig out of business because he annoys her, and to amend the budget so she can give the police department a raise since they helped her. She asked several times about understanding the budget and was surprised to hear that she had voted to not have a budget workshop, therefore, she cant change the 2012 budget without an amendment. Hopefully the cops who were expecting bonuses for helping her will be patient as she figures this one out. Would hate to see them turn on her like they did on Paul and Tina.

Sounds like I missed a circus. I will be there next time. What about the investigation? Any word on its conclusion? How will citizens access it?

Hey Roselyn,
Don't make this an "us against the cops" issue.
I don't believe you will hear too many complaints about those that are serving and protecting us. There is absolutely no call for attacking them.
You're about to become just as much of a wild-card nutcake as those shit disturbers that you claim to oppose.
I don't think that's what is intended by "tribal balance".

Roselyn said...

I understand Anon, and sorry if I offended anyone. And by the way, I AM a wild-card-nutcake and still mad about the treatment of Tina and Paul. I guess I will always be mad about it.

In the current situation, I hope that I do not have to support my family with a job where I need to work from home. I would hope that if I did, my neighbors would support me in trying to provide for my family. Tami is not primarily supporting her family. Others are not so blessed. I think it is important to remember those who do and offer as much support as we can. those who have others that provide for them...please fremember those who do not.

Hey anon

you say you hope you never have to have a job where you work form home owning your own business and working from home is the best job in the world no commute no bosses no office politics sit around in your underware if you choose no start time no need to watch the clock and wish it were 5 so you could go home you are home its great but i understand what you are saying and i can't understand why anyone would complain about a neighbor having that luxery unless it is a total annoyance..... i have driven by craigs house everyday for 4 years and it always looks just fine i have never seen 40 bags of trash let alone every week tami must have a personal problem with their family and is useing her seat on council to mess with him and his family.

Anonymous said...

I would love to work from home and hope that I someday will and have the luxury. I admire all those that so. My point is to support those that support themselves. Also- if you do not have this burden for your family do not discount and shut down those that do. Agree 5:52.

Anon 5:52: Apparently working from home also means you don't have to spell correctly, form complete sentences, or make sense. Might I suggest that you not attempt journalism after you start drinking? Those actually successfully working from home do, I am sure.

I have no issue with Craig, nor most who work from home. We do need common sense ordinances, with someone who will dispassionately enforce them. Otherwise we could get a carcinogenic waste-disposal business as a "home" business. However, before those ordinances can be worked on, we need to have functional, intelligent folks in City Government. That means we have to get rid of the Bug Jar Idiots for a start. Subsequently, we must have Intelligent, functional Citizens to speak out, and ultimately oust the Bug Jar Idiots. Ranting here is no more useful than Tami ranting in public: You only get to hide behind the medium.

Vote Intelligently next election, and vote often.
