Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

What a beautiful Saturday. Is that redundant?

I just checked and according to the numbers we are 20 inches behind in rain for the year. So we knew it was coming and now it's official. This from WCID 12.
"Galveston County WCID #12 is not required by the TCEQ to institute a prohibition on outside watering at this time. Voluntary water conservation is highly encouraged, and we ask our customers to do everything they can to conserve water. Please minimize your outdoor water use. Do not water your lawn and landscape during daylight hours, rather set timers for watering between 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. every 3-4 days if possible.
Without a change in the drought conditions we may be forced to institute water use restrictions with very little prior notice. We ask that our customers do everything they can to conserve water for the benefit of all of us and the citizens of the State of Texas. If you see a water leak, please contact us 281-334-3331 quickly so we may repair and conserve this precious resource. You may also receive updates by checking the WCID #12 website at www.galvcowcid12.com

The good news is next wednesday it's cooling down! The forecast high is only 97!! I'm gettin' goosebumps.....

Latest on the 911 benefit:
Bryan is going to make his outstanding pulled pork for the BBQ plates. There will be brisket, chicken, sausage with all the fixins also. Maybe even baked spuds ala Adams.
There will be live music courtesy of Senor Beans.
Steph Haynes is lining out her boys for the third ever CLear Lake Shores Duck Races. If you want to preorder your duck leave a message/comment and we'll see what we can do. I'm in for three Steph.
Larry is donating a keg of ice cold suds that will be available for a donation to the cause. You da Man LW.
Adelia is putting the silent auction together so if you have something for her let ehr know.
Diana is organizing some of the older kids for an ice cream extravaganza!

Now the best part. We are asking for donations for the grills. If I were to make a shopping list it would look a lot like this. 4 pork shoulders, as many whole chickens as we can get. 6 briskets and a lot of smoked sausage. Any thing and everything can be dropped of at our place and I'll take it from there.

Allan- The Farmer's Market Committee would like to participate in the benefit. We are thinking of holding a raffle at the market on Saturday, Sept 3 and donating the proceeds. We support a charity every month and would like to donate to this.We are alos open to any suggestions. Further, we would like to promote the benefit on the farmer's market website. Do we have a name for the benefit? What should we call it and what kind of specifics can I list on the website to invite as many people as possible? you can reach the committee via email on our site: www.farmersmarketatcls.com

Hmmmmmmm. The majority voted for Vern, and the minority is obviously still mad about that. The majority voted for the Town Center and the minority stopped that. The majority wanted to keep the Chief and we see how that ended. The majority wants Perkins to step down and the minority still doesn’t care what you want and they will do what they damn well please because they know what’s best for you. Or maybe it’s just me.
