Welcome to our little slice of paradise! Clear Lake Shores is probably one of the best kept secrets in the entire Bay Area. Yes we are an island. We are surrounded by Clear Lake, Jarbo Bayou and the Lazy Bend canals. Plug this in to Google Maps and you'll see what I mean 29.32' by 95.01' We are about half way between Galveston Island and the city of Houston and located in north Galveston county. I will try to keep us up on all the goings on that we can walk, boat, bike or drive our golf carts to. Very few things pi$$ me off but one of them is wasting my precious time. I'll try not to waste yours. Enjoy. ab

I can smell Saturday....

See that shiny thing in your driveway? The one with the pretty colors? That’s the islander. Your Islander. It’s not a flyer from the new nail salon. It’s the monthly news letter from your Civic Club. Open it and read it! Roselyn’s favorite event is scheduled for the 6th! Wink. Luvya Roselyn. That would be Jammin’ for the unread. Next Thursday though is the Club meeting at the clubhouse at 7:00. See you there

Don update. Looks like we won’t get much. Some update huh?

Trust. It’s a noun I think. Look it up
We trust the folks in Washington to do what we elected them to do. How’s that working out?  Crappy analogy. But that’s another blog. We are trusting animals we humans. More so than lesser on the food chain I think. We trust people to obey traffic signs, we trust friends with a whole host of things. Without it where would be. There’s a vision for you. At a more intimate level we trust our City Council to do things beneficial for the whole. We trust them to write ordinances that are overtly for the betterment of our community. We trust our neighbors will abide by these ordinances and we trust that our elected officials will not only abide by these same rules but enforce them when necessary. We trust our officials, elected and appointed, to obey our mutually acceptable  rules. When that trust is violated what are we left with? If our officials will not, and do not play by the rules they set out for the lay people what’s left? When the powers that be are toothless in their own realm what choices are left for a sanction? An official can openly violate our law with no repercussions? Is anyone’s jaw dropped but mine? We as a city have one councilman who has openly defied our ordinances for years. With virtually no penalty. But that is another blog. We currently have a Councilman who has violated several ordinances and possibly a state law or two. I won’t even mention the ethics issues. While it probably started out innocent enough she has been advised more than once to entertain a different tack. She made the adult decision to do otherwise. She refused communication with the electorate on more occasions than I can name. She refused communication with her peers on Council and with the Mayors Office. Not sure about you but I have no reason to trust anyone that won’t talk to me. Councilman Perkins, I believe you have lost the trust of your constituency. If the people that elected you no longer trust you to act on their behalf and in their best interest councilman, then it is time to step down. If your council seat is more of an aphrodisiac than a desire to serve then it is time to relinquish said seat. I humbly offer this blog as a straw polling place.

I am so glad Allen highlighted The Islander. Please take note of the loose green page since it is a survey regarding OUR parks. It took me about three minutes to fill out and I added many notes. I so admire the Parks Committee for asking the citizens what they want. Although something tells me there will be a tightening of the budget dues to the recent debacle in our local goverment, write down your dreams and visions for our parks. You never know what might become a reality.

Thank you,
Suzanne Hubbard

I am on the parks comm. we have developed the questionaire over 3 month at least. Please take time to fill it out and give us your feed back and take it to Buds house as he is the Chairman and we will be able to move on your suggestions

Wow
I was just kidding about a chart but some of you are really getting into it. If you believe in Karma raise your hand. If you don't, go look at Bernies garage door.

Regarding the Islander, what happened to the usual minutes section from City Council?

Janna Grubbs Derry

Roselyn said...

Janna, minutes are online at the Clear Lake Shores website. I went back through a years worth of minutes and could not find one thing that Tami or Jackie proposed until this agenda item about Paul.

What happened to Bernies Garage Door?

Well, I say this investigation can't start soon enough. I understand one of our police officers was seen in plain clothes at 11 PM stealing "Save The Chief" signs and got caught.

Anonymous said...

who was it

Anonymous said...

The officer was IN uniform. Must have been a misunderstanding on part of anonymous.

Anonymous said...

he still cant take sighns if they are on private property

Anonymous said...

if the sign is visible and violates a city or state law ordinance it may be removed or the owner may be fined.

Anonymous said...

do those signs violate a city or state law

David Chambers said...

just keep your signs out of the city easment.

Anonymous said...

someone at the city is worried about the signs but Jackies house remains in violation of city ordinances and nothing is being done about that. Does the plot thicken

ab said...

I understand that Officer Jansen and probably any other officer that happened to be on duty was directed to move all signs that were in the easement or on public right of way. That is according to our sign ordinance. If you have a problem with our ordinances join City Council. I have heard from friends and neighbors that she relocated most to the property line and some were even stuck back in the ground. Yet another example of our police force going above and beyond. Thank you CLS PD! Thank you Officer Jansen.

Roselyn said...

Thanks for the heads up Dave, I just bought supplies to make three pink signs and I will be sure they are out of the city easement. I also found pink hair extensions at Sally's across the street. I never realized there are so many shades of pink to choose from! The check out girl said they will have pink feather extensions in Sept. and I told her if we still have this problem in Sept. that I will be back.... Just seeing the note above, was the part correct about it being 11 PM (when nobody could question their sign being taken or was that wrong also?)

Anonymous said...

11pm was right.

If AB is right. Kudos to our great pd

I have an idea for CC meetings.....is it possible to buy a podium where scheduled concerned citizens can stand and present to council ideas and concerns? Since all council members sit in "offical looking chairs" then let's make our citizens at least feel offical.
CLS residents I urge you to get pro active and be sensible. If North shore's agendas can do what they have, then "WE" can make change too! Jackie Fuller needs to clean up his house , but there are other folks who need to clean up there house too (Bernie's needs a new paint job). The regulations the rest of us are held to are enforced by our city, why not them? Just try building a house here! I know, it was pure hell! Jack Fryday do your job!

Anonymous said...

Bernie what about that garage door dude

Anonymous said...

we have always had a podium its right by the door. fryday doesn't know how ro do his job

Anonymous said...

I love the idea of having the podium with a good mic for the unscheduled visitors to address council. Perhaps it will help us to stay professional in addressing them. It would also save time in that we would not have to pass the semi working mic around the room and no one who have to test the darn thing to see if it was on. Sorry, but with an antsy crowd those little things can set us off. I am curious how many people are planning to be an unscheduled visitor this week or a scheduled visitor next week. I hope to be a unscheduled visitor this week. Please post here is you have intentions of doing either.

Keep this one small fact in mind before you begin painting your neighbors. 3 people run this city. only three. Paint them if you feel the need. Those are the folks that you as citizens should be concerned with. It really doesn't matter who they talk to or have dinner with. At the end of the day it is the block of three that owns the city council. As long as they vote together they win. AS best I can count it is 2-0. Paint that.

Hi y'all, I excercised blogosphere magic wand moments ago for the first time. Anon posted a question about a friend of mine asking what "side' she is on. Deleted. There really shouldn't be a "side" unless you're talking about the water gun wars. There has been a great disturbance in the force. One or two misguided individuals have caused more than enough grief for our little island. Think and focus on what we need to do to get this behind us post haste. See y'all around the island!

Wow. I feel so special. just caught Tami stopped in front of our house taking pictures. Hummm I hope she got it's good side. Not sure what that was all about but I'll let you know if I find out. Maybe she is casing the joint. Better lock my doors. Kinda creepy if you ask me.

Roselyn said...

I hope she comes by my house for a photo shoot. I have a pink sign in my yard she might like. I am also thinking of calling Channel 13
to come take photos/video Tuesday of citizens trying to take back their town. If she doesnt resign by Tuesday I am ordering the first batch of 100 signs like the one in my yard and when those run out I will order more. If either of the other two step down, then let me know and I wont print their name on the sign. How could her husband and mother let her commit social and political suicide like this? I understand her "friends" letting her, but not her family. My husband knows when to pull me back in and I love him for it. Can someone explain this to me?

Anonymous said...

Good call of the magic wand.

Melinda, Holy crap! Did you call the police? She has no right to do that...of wait...she does whatever she wants to as a council person without any reprimand.

Anonymous said...

Tami was taking pictures of your house? Holy shit that is creepy and scary. You seem to be making light of this weird behaviour but although it may not be illegal you need to make a report to our pd so they can create a file and keep track of any further somewhat threatning behaviour. Trucks driving slowly by folks homes, Tami taking pictures of others? I don't know if everybody is just getting paranoid or if this whole thing is snowballing out of controll. I will not go into details but Tami unleashed a personal attack on me. This was before any of this ever started. The phone call I had with her was like talking to a rambling crazy person. I am not making this up I wish I had it recorded so everyone could hear what I heard. Now that I have seen her behavior over the past few weeks it is somewhat comforting to know it isn't just me, she will attack anyone. Who is next? Tami and her friends are dangerous. They will not let anything stop them if they are after you. They do not let truth or facts get in their way. I warn any of you that feel something doesn't seem right. Call and report it. Document everything with our PD. Maybe there is nothing going on and we are all just dreaming it up in our heads but the police need to know all of these details if they are to help us if something is going on and it continues or escalates. You need to go to a CC meeting asap as a scheduled visitor and ask her straight up what she was doing. She was probably just going to do a nice portrait of your house as a gift to you but in case that isn't her goal, we need to get some answers out of this lady. Sometimes I think this is all a bad dream and I will wake up. It's not a dream. Tami and her friends are tearing this place apart and won't stop until we stop them. As I mentioned before, there are several North Shore goupies laying low right now. They don't even go to council meetings. Keep your eye out for them. They are just as dangerous as the ones on the front lines right now. Sign up as a scheduled visitor, have two or three questions ready for the three of them and lets get some answers.

Alan,

I must respectfully disagree with you pulling the plug on the post. I know in the thirty years I have known you we have never disagreed but sadly there are two sides like it or not. Everyday on this Island folks are asking each other that same question. Maybe not directly but we all want to know who falls where. It is human nature. I'm going to put this in terms you would use. The question was asked. Your friend could have put on her big girl panties and either answered the question or told the person asking the question it was none of their business. End of story. In my opinion it seems like an honest question and insulted no one. I do agree with you that there shouldn't be sides especially here in CLS but as in any dispute there are sides. It sucks but it is a fact. I think you should have let it go and let your friend tell the curious poster where to shove it if she felt it was none of their business and no it wasn't my post. Mine are signed. You know I am behind you 238% but it seems like overkill to pull that post when you compare it to about 200 others that are far worse. Just curious, is the "magic wand" a metaphor for ... never mind. I don't even want to know. If my jokeing about a chart and a pink and black team prompted the problem. My bad. I offically recall my less than serious suggestion but I personally need some kind of program to go by. It is getting to damn confuseing. Keep up the good work, thanks for the blog and the next time Tami is taking photos of your house, go out and show her your best side if you know what I mean.

Our friggin council is out of control like a run away train. There is no telling what they will do next along with N Shore. I do not want to add to any drama or paranoid feelings, but I agreee with Craig. I would call Vern too since some of our police are on Tami's side. There is a scary thought. Protect our city, protect ourselves.

Anonymous said...

some of us newbies need to know who is black. I am trying to make new friends and I sure don't want to find out I am making friends with the shadow side of CLS. Other than Tami, I hear most of them are over 65.

Thats why we need a chart. OOOPs.

Sorry Alan

To the post at 7:24 you said" The phone call I had with her (TP) was like talking to a rambling crazy person." You were talking to a crazy person.

Since there is no word that she is stepping down, (the logical thing to do) what will she do next?

She has figured out she is out numbered. She has hopefully gotten the message her complaint is worthless. Think of her as an undisciplined teen that has no boundaries or morales.

If the nutty prof. is back he may be misguiding her once again. What if he scolded her? OMG if she lost what she perceived as a "friendship or mentor" too. Of course she will lash out since she is the misunderstood (by everyone)victim.

The post at 4:30 is brillant. The chief signs are a problem YET Ewell Eugene JACKIE's ghetto house has violated the city ordinance for YEARS and it devalues homes around it.

My sign is not in the easement and it better not be touched by a snitch cop during daylight hours let alone after dark. The snitch cops may think they have won since Tina is gone and Paul resigned. Wouldn't it be hilarious for them if the next chief is a real bastard to work for? They may wish Tina and Paul were still there.

Can someone tell me if the snitch cops will be listed in the results of the investigation? I sure hope they are job hunting.

I have it from a great source that most of the cops loved Paul and are cops in good standing that would never drop into the ditch with snake Tami. There is definately one snack cop and some rattles or tattlers - whine on. What goes around - comes around.

Anonymous said...

To the post at 10:16. What??????
Are you drrecting your comments yo Paul and Tina or Tami and her gang. If it aimed at Paul, could you elaborate and explain how life on this Island the last 20 years has been so horrible?

Anonymous said...

Alan,

Now that I know who your friend is I agree with the removal of the post. Sorry, I was kind of slow to figure that one out. If I had a chart it would have been more clear to me. How many more days until election day?

Allen Cruthirds says; Let's be a good deal more thoughtful regarding comments about our police. We are lucky to have them.

I sure don't like the sound of Tami taking pictures. What is she planning? Hiring a private investigator? If she would just step down she could save herself much $$$. Does anyone know if she has figured out the lawsuits coming her way? I may take her time for it to hit her.

Anonymous said...

I agree Allen. From my seat as I am watching this rediculous soap opera, it seems a little harsh to call them snitches. Tami interviewd them and they allegedly made some complaints and voiced their opinions. You would find the same thing if you interviewed a bunch of employees about their boss at any company or business especially if you hand picked who you interviewed. The investigation will reveal if their complaints are valid or not. It seems Tami forgot to interview Paul and get his side of the story. If they are invalid complaints or accusations we will find out but untill then I am going to remain open minded and give our officers the benifit of the doubt. This is something Paul was not afforded and it was not fair. The sad thing is when the investigation is complete and if it shows Paul did nothing that rose to the level of being terminated or run off the damage is already done. Paul and Tina can be completely vindicated and they will still have been run off from their jobs. It is all so unfair and rediculous. Tami and her buddies win no matter what. If the investigation turns out to be total BS and I think it will and we get our Council back in order, then we should find a way to reinstate both Paul and Tina if they choose to return. If they would like to come back can we make it happen? Anybody know the answer? Please give our officers some slack. If we have problem officers it will show up in the investigation or they will reveal themselves eventually. Untill then I am behind them. The only alternative is to fire or run all of them off with threats then investigate them after the fact like they do in Tami world.

Who is the anon asking for last names when he/she didn't even sign their first. Thats kind of weird

Anonymous said...

I guess Bernie is back.

Anonymous said...

It is critical to know who is friends with the Black side of the island. I do not know her name but the woman with the visor at the last CC claims she will be our next mayor and she is friends with Kathy. God help us if we do not keep track and she is elected.

Anonymous said...

Bernie is back....I saw him and Officer Cranston canoodling on Clear Lake Rd yesterday. Beware, they are a shady bunch!

Anonymous said...

see post above. Barb Hanlon

Anonymous said...

I heard Denise was also at Bernie's house visiting on Saturday. Man, what a welcome home! Two police officers. I heard also that Tami was driving around smiling and waving.

Anonymous said...

I guess the cops are on North Shore asking Bernie if they are going to get to keep their jobs.

Anonymous said...

I heard that the Cranstons and the Shelleys were very good friends outside of the police department for about 15 years and then when Tina resigned she has not gotten a call from Mrs. Cranston asking how she is doing. So it was a double whammy for the Shelley's, losing their career jobs and discovering their good friends were behind it. I cant imagine the pain. And the thought that Tami, Jackie, Arlene and North Shore thinks they have accomplished something here makes me want to vomit.

Anonymous said...

Certainly the CLS PD will learn that anyone Bernie or Kathy touches pays a high price. Look at the lawsuit John and Peggy Wright has to face along with their builder. They listened to Bernie and it is going to cost them thousands and thousands.

Anonymous said...

Kathy McI's car is behind the garage door that is smashed. She won't be able to use it until the door is fixed. More karma.

Anonymous said...

Come on folks your making us look bad. To the post at 8:34. I heard that the Cranstons......... We are all over Tami and her crew for alledgeing she heard from a cops wife that....... now the Pinks are doing the same thing to the cops? Unless you heard it first hand from the Cranstons or the Shellys you may not have heard the truth just like we feel Tami did not get the truth. I think we are on the same side but I am asking all of you bashing the cops because you heard something or you saw them talking to someone you don't like to please stop. If you have first hand knowlege of wrongdoing by one of our cops then report it to the Mayor or post it on the blog and sign your name. Otherwise you are just pulling a Tami. Even her information is alleged to be first hand and not gossip. You know I am not on her side at all and I do not like what she and her gang have done but two wrongs don't make a right. It appears the investigation might be completed soon which to me seems like they may not have found anything. That would be great but again, yes I am repeating myself, unless you have hard facts lets leave our cops alone until the report is in and we have the facts. OK, does that sound fair?Craig

I wish I could be at the meeting tomorrow but will be with you guys in spirit. Don't we have a year or so before the next mayors election.
